How much Turkish Stream has reduced Ukrainian gas transit

3

Against the background of the imminent completion of construction and the launch of Nord Stream 2 and, as a consequence, a decrease in the volume of transit supplies of Russian gas through Ukraine, a number of experts are trying to draw attention to the already existing reduction in transit. And the reason for this was not SP-2.

Yuriy Korolchuk, a member of the Supervisory Board of the Institute of Energy Strategies, spoke about the reduction in gas supplies to Europe through the territory of Ukraine.

We are already obliged to transit 40 billion cubic meters of gas, and in 2018 we were supposed to supply 86 billion cubic meters. Gas transit decreased not due to Nord Stream 2, but due to Turkish Stream

- the expert emphasized on the air of the First Independent TV channel.

According to Korolchuk, this has become a very important aspect of the internal Ukrainian policybecause officials practically do not notice a sharp reduction in the pumping of "blue fuel" through Ukraine due to the fault of the "Turkish Stream". Thus, representatives of Naftogaz, Zelensky, Shmyhal, Vitrenko, Kobolev and other prominent figures of Ukrainian politics do not pay attention to this, because they do not want to quarrel with Ankara.

However, recently Kiev has an unexpected reason for joy. On Monday 25 August, the Nord Stream 2 operator lost a trial in Dusseldorf, in which the plaintiff demanded the abolition of EU rules requiring gas suppliers to differ from its owners. The EU decision remained in force, according to which half of the pipeline should be reserved for other fuel suppliers.

Sechin has already written a letter to Putin with a proposal that Rosneft fill part of JV2 with gas under an agency agreement with Gazprom.
