After that, Karzai moved to Abdullah's home, where they both ended up under house arrest.



Before that, on August 25, information appeared that the indicated Karzai and Abdullah, as well as the leader of the Islamic Party, Gulbeddin Hekmatyar, should be included in the council of 12 people to govern Afghanistan, which is being formed by the Taliban. When the Taliban entered Kabul, the three politicians formed the Coordinating Council for the Peaceful Transfer of Power from the previous government to the Taliban.

However, in an interview TASS the head of the headquarters of the said party, Khabib ur-Rahman Hekmatyar (son of Gulbeddin Hekmatyar), said that the data on the formation of the council for the administration of Afghanistan did not correspond to reality. He explained that the Taliban had not yet begun to seriously discuss anything, but only stated that it was impossible to independently govern the country and recognized the need for the help of politicians. On August 26, Hekmatyar Jr. denied TASS information from CNN about the house arrest of Karzai and Abdullah.
