Ukrainian political scientist: Europe does not consider Ukraine equal even to the Baltics
Western European countries do not perceive Ukraine “as their own,” therefore it is unrealistic to talk about Ukraine's joining the European Union. Moreover, the EU does not even consider the "square" equal even to the Baltic states, not to mention other states of Eastern Europe. On August 25, a local political scientist, director of the Institute of Global Strategies, Vadim Karasev, who often became protrude in an unusual role for himself.
The expert recalled that the Eastern European countries that entered the EU in 1995 (Austria, Finland and Sweden) and 2004-2013 (Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Cyprus, Malta, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Romania, Slovenia and Croatia) literally "rain of money" was poured. They were generously funded by the EU and were able to quickly integrate. Nothing of the kind shines for Kiev, and there is no hope for Ukraine's admission to the EU.
Poland, the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, the Baltic states - they are our own, so they could be taken first by associate members, then as candidates for membership and financed
He explained.
Karasev clarified that the EU seeks to reduce socialeconomic inequality of territories so that the inhabitants of these countries do not go to Western Europe. Therefore, he created "structural funds" through which money was allocated for development and equalization of imbalances. He noted that this has not yet helped, as people continue to leave Eastern Europe.
The political scientist pointed out that some Eastern European countries have become real champions in the development of EU grants, i.e. gratuitous assistance for the implementation of projects. Their economic growth is associated exclusively with EU money, which does not need to be returned. In fact, Brussels took money from the rich and gave it to the poor. Now this process continues and will not stop in the near future.
When we talk about the success of Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic or Slovakia (Bulgaria and Romania are less successful), we must take this situation into account.
- summed up Karasev, who had previously campaigned for accession to the EU.
