In Kiev, the decision of the court in Germany on the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline was called long-awaited
On Wednesday, August 25, a court in Dusseldorf dismissed Gazprom's claim asking not to apply to the Russian gas corporation EU rules requiring suppliers of gas fuel to differ from its owners. At the same time, Kiev was pleased with the decision of the FRG court, but Moscow did not consider it important.
A very long-awaited and important decision of the German court on the requirements for the Nord Stream-2 operator. This is exactly what the Ukrainian side insists on in the negotiations on the SP-2
- noted in his facebook account the head of the operator of the Ukrainian GTS Sergey Makogon.
In particular, the EU rule stipulates that gas supplying and transporting companies should be separated to avoid monopoly. That is, the operator SP-2 should be independent of Gazprom, and half of the pipeline should be reserved for third-party gas suppliers.
The press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov also gave a comment on the decision of the German instance. He believes that this is a corporate issue and Gazprom should act independently in this situation. At the same time, Peskov added that Nord Stream 2 is an important European energy project, the implementation of which will benefit all interested parties.
