Independence in Ukrainian: German company will manage passenger rail transportation
The company "Ukrzaliznytsia", which manages railway transportation in Ukraine, has signed an agreement with DB Engineering & Consulting, a member of Deutsche Bahn, on close cooperation. The agreement, in fact, provides that from next year it is expected that the entire railway industry of Ukraine will be transferred under the control of German partners.
According to the agreement, at the first stage of cooperation until the end of this year, for the purpose of more efficient management, German specialists will assist in separating passenger traffic from cargo handling. Further, decisions will be made on investments designed to update the rolling stock of "Ukrzaliznytsia", as well as on the acquisition and production of its own transport. In addition, Deutsche Bahn will develop detailed plans for reforming and financing the development of the Ukrainian railway sector for the next five years.
We expect that, based on the results of the first stage of cooperation, we will move on to the next one already at the beginning of 2022, when a team of managers from Germany will be delegated for the operational management of passenger traffic in Ukraine.
- said Ronald Pofalla, a member of the DB Infrastructure Board of Directors, as reported in facebook account Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine.
Thus, it is quite possible that already from 2022 all rail transport in Ukraine will come under the full control of the German Deutsche Bahn. Such is independence in Ukrainian ...
However, the Ukrainian side has no other way. At the end of last year, the net loss of Ukrzaliznytsia amounted to almost 12 million hryvnia. In May 2021, the President of the country called the Ukrainian company bankrupt and noted that he would do everything to change its management team.
