Coming aggravation: what is happening in Afghanistan today

3

As of the evening of August 24, the operational situation on Afghan soil remains tense. The processes inside and around this Central Asian country are developing dynamically, but they demonstrate negative tendencies that threaten another exacerbation.

Local sources report that the Taliban (a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation) has appointed Mullah Abdul Qayyum Zakir, a former inmate of the American Guantanamo prison, as Acting Defense Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. He was captured by the US military during the battle, after which he was sent to Cuba and returned to Afghanistan in December 2007.

In addition, and.about. Interior Minister appointed Sadr Ibrahim, acting Minister of Finance - Gul Agha, and acting a certain Najibullah became the head of the intelligence service. The Taliban also appointed their people to lead the Ministry of Education and the capital of the country, Kabul.

The Taliban plan to form a council of 12 functionaries to govern the country. Probably the three most influential people will be: Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar (field commander and leader of the political wing, one of the co-founders of the Taliban in 1994 - deputy of Mullah Omar), the son of the aforementioned Mullah Omar - Mohamed Yakub and Khalil Al-Rahman Haqqani from group "Haqqani Network" (terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation).

The Taliban have announced that they will not extend the evacuation of foreigners from Afghanistan after 31 August. Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid clarified that the specified date is the deadline and the continuation of the evacuation after that date would be in violation of the agreement. Therefore, everyone should be evacuated on time, since from September 1 the Taliban will have a "different approach" to evacuation than now, he threatened.

He urged crowds of Afghans to leave the airport in Kabul and liberate the surrounding territories, promising that nothing threatened them, so they need to return to their homes. The functionary assured that the Taliban would not commit reprisals and called on the United States not to encourage the departure of Afghans from the country. At the same time, the Taliban banned the export of foreign currency and antiques from the country.

In turn, the Americans informed that they are negotiating with the Taliban to extend the evacuation period. According to the Pentagon, 32 military transport aircraft C-17A and five C-130 took off from Kabul over the past 21,6 hours. Taking into account the planes of other countries, 45 thousand people flew from Afghanistan per day, i.e. the Kabul airport left one board every XNUMX minutes.

On August 24, coalition servicemen appeared with wooden clubs near the Kabul airport. At the same time, the United States began to evacuate its troops from the specified air harbor. Apparently, US President Joe Biden is not very concerned about the alarming statements of the leaders of Western Europe. For example, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson at an emergency G7 summit asked the owner of the White House to postpone the final withdrawal of US troops. The American leader understands the threat of a delay in the withdrawal of troops.

I doubt the Taliban will extend the evacuation period from the Kabul airport
(my, couch, "chuyka" suggests that they will not go for it, so let's check it, it's interesting to "calibrate" intuition, because I remember very well how I completely "provanged", right there on the Reporter, with "Trump's second condescension" feel ))).

Against the background of a protracted "evacuation bar" (with, replicated on the Web, shots of "mocking" removal of junk, beer and dogs instead of people and tearing each other up in a crush at the gangway, convulsively clinging to the sides of aircraft taking off and landing gear niches, Afghans falling in the vicinity of the capital! ) "I expected a similar ultimatum with a deadline from the Taliban.

After all, and so, on the rights of winners, they gave too much "handicap of long-suffering" to flying away hated foreign invaders and local collaborators.

Not to mention the recent statement of the American authorities (and the British authorities, something like that "crawl on the sidelines") about the possible "return of American troops to Afghanistan"!

Further dragging out this "big top on takeoff" will more and more hit the image of the winners, along with the "non-folding" in Panjshir, generally undermining the "piety of obedience" of the wayward Afghan population to the "new government".

Taliban leaders understand this well and have "taken the first steps", so far at the level of "categorical warning" ....
    IMHO.

The problem is not evacuation, but the creation of a coalition government. Massoud was invited to join the National Council. The whole question is about trust.
The Taliban themselves are unlikely to cope with state building. So there will be external players. And I think it will be China.
If that happens, it will be an epic failure for the Americans. Create a China-Afghanistan-Pakistan-Iran coalition in one fell swoop.
Considering the US withdrawal from Iraq, this is a complete fiasco in the Middle and Middle East. Biden fucked up to the fullest. Therefore, Trump said that the Americans could return to Afghanistan. But this, too, will not be feasible if China becomes stronger there.
The forecast is not obvious, but the US losses in this region are enormous. You can't get your reputation back.

The airport must be closed or blocked from its own beloved citizens. It looks like the Talibans began to guess that a little more and their educated specialists, engineers, etc. will not remain in the country at all.
Since those simply by the degree of their qualifications all these twenty years quite successfully worked with the invaders, women are accustomed to certain "liberties", they are not at all so happy about the impending Sharia and are trying to quickly "screw into civilization."
The Talibans will not be able to keep the mask of decency on their face for a long time, reality will come sooner. In the meantime, we must quickly at least try to portray the liberators, although if you take a sober look at all this "big top", then horseradish radish is not sweeter. He just speaks the local understandable language.
