Domestic aircraft engine for MS-21 found "ground" application
While our promising PD-14 engine is rolling in the sky, Russian engineers have already found a place for it on earth. On the eve of the UEC presented the latest industrial engine PD-14GP-1 / GP-2, created on the basis of the gas generator of the aforementioned aircraft power plant.
The new engine, with a service life of up to 200 thousand hours, will be used in gas turbine power plants and gas transmission units. At the same time, domestic gas turbine units with PD-14GP-1 / -2 engines will be presented with a low-emission combustion chamber, which brings them into full compliance with international environmental requirements, and in terms of efficiency, they will exceed their foreign counterparts by 8%.
This event is of great importance for our country. After all, Russia possesses truly gigantic reserves of natural gas, which, as a rule, are located quite far from end consumers. Consequently, the emergence of its own industrial engines like PD-14GP-1 / -2 is especially important in the current situation. And the more similar units of various classes we have, the better.
By the way about the latter. In Russia, an even more powerful aircraft engine PD-35, which is intended for wide-body long-haul aircraft, is “on the way”. Undoubtedly, he will return our country to the "major league" of engine building. At the same time, there is no doubt that in the future there will be an adaptation of the PD-35 for ground industrial needs.
But back to PD-14GP-1 / -2. If we run a little ahead of ourselves, it becomes obvious that in addition to being important for the domestic market, our unit also has a high export potential. So far, however, we need the engine ourselves, as evidenced by Gazprom's recent order for the supply of 200 such power plants.
