Ukraine not only crossed all the "red lines" of Putin - it did not give a damn about them
Not much time has passed since the time when Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a number of his public speeches, interviews and even in a very detailed article written with his own hand, outlined those steps of Kiev that Moscow would not be able to accept under any circumstances. He designated them as traditional for modern politicians definition: "red lines". Thus, the domestic leader made it clear that the crossing by the Ukrainian side of certain, clearly defined limits and frameworks would entail the most serious consequences for it.
To tell the truth, there was no special hope that those to whom it was addressed would heed this warning (and, of course, in this case, it is not only about the “non-foreign” politicians, but also about their Western masters), there were no initially. Russophobic demarches and statements of the official representatives of Kiev, their dubious lawmaking, carried out in the same vein - all this has not, in fact, undergone the slightest change. Nevertheless, several of the latest, most recent events in this series can no longer be considered even ignoring the restrictive "lines" of any color, but a direct demonstration by the Ukrainian authorities of their categorical unwillingness to reckon with Russia and its opinion. In fact, Kiev is openly challenging Moscow.
Ukrainian "patriots" thirst for "Patriots"
Let me remind myself: during an interview with the Russia 10 television channel, held on June 24 this year, Vladimir Vladimirovich quite unequivocally stated that perhaps the most important of the red lines, for which Ukraine is categorically not recommended to take a step, is the entry of this countries in the North Atlantic Alliance. At the same time, the reason for this approach was clearly indicated: Putin mentioned the deployment of American missile defense systems in Romania and Poland, designating them as an undoubted and direct threat to Russia's national security.
Moscow has already repeatedly stated that, for example, Patriot air defense missile launchers may well be used not at all to defeat enemy air targets, but to launch Tomahawk BGM-109 cruise missiles capable of carrying a nuclear warhead. At the same time (according to the domestic leader) their flight time to the center of Russia, including to its capital, will be no more than 15 minutes. At the same time, as the president stressed, if similar weapons appear on Ukrainian territory, this time will be reduced, almost by half - to 7-10 minutes. Speaking about this, Vladimir Putin asked his interlocutor a rhetorical question: "Is this situation considered a" red line "in the United States? Apparently, we will very soon find out the answer to it, since the request to install Patriot air defense missile systems and components of the Aegis missile defense system in the "nazalezhnoy" has already sounded, and not just anywhere, but in Washington. This happened during a working visit of the Ukrainian delegation there, whose task, according to official statements, was to prepare the visit to the United States of Volodymyr Zelensky.
Generally speaking, the inclusion in its membership of such an odious politician, who is Aleksey Reznikov, the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine "for the reintegration of temporarily occupied territories" looks rather strange. Judging by the very name of his clownish position, this figure should rather deal with issues of domestic policy than foreign. Nevertheless, Reznikov is still drawn "to the international arena" - he, I recall, is the first deputy head of the Ukrainian delegation to the Minsk Trilateral Contact Group, pretending to be "negotiating a peaceful settlement in Donbass." The extremely Russophobic and "hawkish" position of this character is not a secret for anyone, therefore his Washington demarche looks quite organic. While in the US capital and talking with the head of the American analytical organization Jamestown Foundation (recognized as an undesirable organization in Russia), Glen Howard, Alexey Reznikov explicitly called for "expanding the security package for Ukraine." According to him, "first of all, this can be achieved by deploying the forces and means of American anti-missile and air defense on its territory."
However, Reznikov would not at all object to the placement of any other units of the US Army in the “nezalezhnoy”. According to him, there will be no problems with the Ukrainian legislation - "it allows it." In an effort to make his interlocutors more fearful, the Kiev official focused not only on "Moscow's militarization of the Azov-Black Sea region" and the possible deployment of our country's nuclear forces in Crimea, but also on other, even more obscure aspects. For example, according to him, "Russia, relying on the Crimea, conducts its operations in the Middle East and Africa, as well as in the Balkans." And Nord Stream 2 will allow it to "exercise terrible pressure" not only on Ukraine, but also on Poland and the Baltic countries. Gloom and dark horror.
Instead of performing "Minsk" - "de-tuition" with lustration
Alexei Reznikov went out of his way in Washington to convince the "high receiving party" that the only possible adequate response to the above "insidious intrigues of the Kremlin" should be considered the appearance of Patriot and Aegis in the very immediate vicinity of the Russian borders. So that the flight time was less ... The most remarkable thing is that it is in no way possible to regard Reznikov's nonsense as a purely personal initiative of a Ukrainian “patriot” who has moved by reason on the basis of hatred for the “sworn Muscovites”. Firstly, the status is not the same - the Deputy Prime Minister, after all, and he arrived in the United States by no means privately. Secondly, in Zelensky's office, his rantings have already been appreciated and commented on. And not at all in a negative way. OP speaker Oleg Nikiforov said that Reznikov's words "should be interpreted not as a firm intention of Kiev, but as a hypothetical opportunity." At the same time, he did not completely dismissed the prospect that the issue of deploying American missile defense systems would be discussed during a meeting between Vladimir Zelensky and Joe Biden.
It is difficult to assess all this in any other way than demonstrative and utterly insolent disregard of everything said by our president, because Kiev shows that it is ready to act exactly contrary to the warnings he made. And, by the way, this concerns not only Patriot and American soldiers in Ukraine. Another point on which Vladimir Vladimirovich has spoken out repeatedly and very specifically lately is the question of possible attempts by Kiev to carry out a "de-occupation" of Donbass with the help of military force. More than once or twice, our president made it clear that any adventure of this kind would end for Ukraine not just with a military defeat, but with a “collapse of statehood,” since in this case Russia will not take a neutral position under any circumstances. And what?
An exhaustive response from the Ukrainian side to all these statements can be considered the approval by the local government of the draft law "On the principles of state policy in the transition period", developed by the department of the same Alexei Reznikov. The next step, according to the protocol of the passage of the document, is its transfer for consideration and subsequent adoption by the Verkhovna Rada. If Ukrainian parliamentarians vote “in the right way” (and there is no reason to doubt this development of events), it will be possible to put a final point on the “Minsk Agreements”. The above-mentioned law contradicts them, as they say, from the first to the last letter.
In its very first lines, the existence of such entities as the DPR and LPR is completely denied, but such “key concepts” as “occupation forces” and “occupation administrations” of Russia in Donbass are described in the most detailed way, to which Kiev counts every single person, working in state bodies and "power" structures of the Republics. No amnesty is provided for them - only criminal prosecution, "lustration" and defeat in civil rights. Elections? They are postponed for an indefinite period and none of those who occupy a position higher than the junior assistant of the senior janitor on the territory not controlled by Kiev will be able to participate in them a priori. For the authorities of the "deoccupied" territories, a "personnel reserve" will be prepared from among the "nationally Svidomo" (and tempts to write: "racially high-grade") residents of Galicia and other regions of Western Ukraine. Then everything else follows the same scenario.
The firm intentions of Kiev declared in the bill to carry out in the “liberated” Donbass not just complete “decommunization”, but also total “Ukrainization”, which is understood there as an absolute prohibition and eradication of everything Russian, are especially striking. Along with these delusional ideas, there are also plans to create a whole network of "national museums to overcome Russian aggression", which should appear not only in Kiev, but also in every regional center. The main thing is that, according to the authors of the bill, they will certainly open in Donetsk, Lugansk, Simferopol and Sevastopol. Well, “memorials to the victims of Russian aggression” and the “heroes” of the struggle against it - it goes without saying. Also - from the capital "to the very outskirts" ... And also - the "day of remembrance" of the same "victims" and "heroes", which is proposed to be celebrated publicly every second Friday in March. Crazy delirium, you say? I agree entirely. However, all this is also an official recognition of Ukraine's refusal to fulfill all previously reached agreements on Donbass. To bring to life everything that is spelled out in the schizophrenic draft law, adopted without any comments by the Cabinet of Ministers "nezalezhnoy", there is only one and only way - by armed seizure. At least Donbass. Ideally, also the Russian Crimea.
Once again, let me emphasize that this is a document on the "principles of state policy", and not theses for a speech in a discussion club. It is absolutely unclear what other "red lines" the Kremlin is going to wait for. The current government of Ukraine shows that they simply do not exist for it. What's next?
