Will a new World War await us?
One of the authoritative Russian experts - captain of the first rank, doctor of military sciences, Alexander Sivkov, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Missile and Artillery Sciences, noted that Russia is exposed to serious external threats. In the publication “Military-Industrial Courier,” he published material in which he suggested that world events could develop according to four scenarios.
The first scenario is a local border conflict. It may flare up in any particular area. Its possible duration is from a few days to about two months. In this case, from two to ten thousand soldiers will participate in hostilities.
However, there is a danger that such a local clash will only be the beginning of a much more serious conflict.
The second proposed scenario is a conflict that could occur in one operational area. In this case, it will last for many months, or even years. And much more people will be involved in it - from 30 to 000.
The expert emphasized that a similar situation is possible not only near Russian borders. Such a war will affect either a neighboring state or a region located in the zone of Russian interests. It cannot be ruled out that a conflict will break out within Russia itself.
The third possible scenario is a local war in one of the strategic directions. Hundreds of thousands of people, up to a million, will already be involved in it. Aggressors will make territorial claims. To resist opponents, Russia will need to engage large groups near its own borders. And away from the country, limited contingents of the military-space forces and the navy will conduct operations.
The fourth scenario predicted by Sivkov is a regional war unleashed against Russia. It will be conducted in several strategic directions. In this case, it will last for several years (such as the Great Patriotic War). The warring parties will need large-scale forces - up to 10 million people, or even more.
Sivkov pointed out that such serious wars have been prepared for at least a year (usually several years). Their goal is either to capture countries, or to change the state system in them, or to establish control over entire regions.
Speaking specifically about where the Third World War could begin, the expert pointed out, in particular, to the Middle East region. One of the detonators of such a development of events could be the creation of an independent Kurdish state in tearing away the territories of Syria and Iraq.
In addition, it cannot be ruled out that the United States and its NATO allies, as well as Israel, may initiate aggression against Iran. Arab monarchies, which are American satellites, can also join it. The reason for the war could be the resumption of the Iranian nuclear program. The West may intervene in the event that Tehran begins a conflict, for example, with Saudi Arabia.
According to Sivkov, the war in Yemen will continue. In the African region there is a confrontation between Saudi Arabia and the United States, on the one hand, and China and Iran on the other.
Another dangerous point in the world is Afghanistan. China may be involved in a war in this country. A serious source of tension is the Korean Peninsula. In addition, between Russia and Japan, there remains the danger of a conflict over the Kuril Islands. The redistribution of spheres of influence in the Arctic, the issue between China and Taiwan, and even the withdrawal of Latin American states from American influence - all this can also have very serious consequences.
