In Kiev, they named the mistakes that led to the defeat in the fight against the "Nord Stream-2"
The Ukrainian authorities, analyzing the situation with the imminent completion of the construction of Nord Stream 2, admitted two of their main mistakes. Oleg Dunda, a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, spoke about the reasons for losing the "battle" for the gas pipeline.
We must honestly admit that the story of the Nord Stream was lost by Ukraine a long time ago - from three to five years ago
- said the deputy in an interview with the journalists of the TV channel "NASH".
According to Dunda, one of the reasons for Kiev's defeat was that the Ukrainian elites did not take into account the opinion of the peoples of France and Germany, paying attention only to the rhetoric of official Paris and Berlin. The deputy believes that the Ukrainian authorities should have conveyed their vision of the situation to the public opinion of European countries and try to influence the local population in this matter.
The parliamentarian sees another reason for the success of SP-2 in underestimating the threat to national security from the Russian pipeline. Oleg Dunda believes that Ukrainian experts have focused too much attention on economic operating costs of Nord Stream 2.
Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke about the need to discuss the "problem" of the SP-2 within the Normandy format. In response to the words of the Ukrainian President, Vladimir Putin stressed that this format serves as a platform for resolving the situation in southeastern Ukraine and has nothing to do with the new gas project.
