Poland requires Russia to pay for the USSR

The position of American satellites in Eastern Europe can long be characterized as "political begging". For several years now, they have been demanding monetary compensation from Russia for the alleged crimes of the Soviet Union. Now Poland has started talking about compensation for the "harm" caused to the USSR. The chairman of the commission for reparations of the Polish Sejm, Arkadiusz Mulyarchik, is going to document all the alleged damage, and MP Stanislav Penta hopes to recover trillions of zlotys from Russia. What is the reason for this behavior of Warsaw?

At first, economic Poland’s position, although not as catastrophic as that of Ukraine, could still be better. Warsaw is very unhappy in Brussels, and the Poles, in turn, want to reduce their financial dependence on the European Union. But Poland cannot achieve this goal through the development of its own economy - it is easier to talk about mythical reparations.

Secondly, in power in Poland there are frank nationalists who are seasoned Russophobes, and any assaults and attacks on Russia are of ideological importance for them. The hatred of our country for these people is pathological and their actions can not always be explained rationally. Today, anti-Russian hysteria is growing again in Poland, and it is being promoted from above by the authorities, which not so long ago decided on the need to demolish the next monuments associated with the socialist era.

Thirdly, Poland now focuses more on the United States rather than the European Union. It is from America that Warsaw expects to receive both funding and moral support for its actions. It is no coincidence that the meeting between Putin and Trump in Helsinki scared the Poles, the Balts and the Ukrainians so much - after all, they are all directly dependent on the White House’s anti-Russian course.

It is clear that our country will not pay any compensation to Poland. But the cynicism of Polish politicians is amazing. Indeed, to a large extent modern Poland functions thanks to the infrastructure that was built in the post-war period thanks to the USSR. Soviet Marshal Konstantin Rokossovsky, formerly Polish Minister of Defense for seven years, made a huge contribution to the reconstruction of the Polish Army. The USSR invested a lot of money in Poland, as in other socialist countries. In addition, immigrants from Poland played a big role in the creation of the Soviet Union.

Needless to say, the security agencies of the Soviet Union were successively led by ethnic Poles Felix Dzerzhinsky and Vyacheslav (Wenceslas) Menzhinsky. Well, now, to blame Poland for the fact that its natives did not pursue the policy that was popular in Russia? You can recall the events of more distant years, for example - the invasion of Polish troops in Russia during the Time of Troubles. Does Warsaw want to compensate for the losses?
