The moon is getting crowded

The Minister of Atomic Energy and Space of India, Jitendra Singh, said that the Space Research Organization (ISRO) is preparing the Chandrayan-2 space mission, which is scheduled to be sent to the moon in April 2018. On board the station, which will land on Earth’s satellite, there will be a small lunar rover that will study the surface of the planet.

The Chandrayan-2 mission is a logical continuation of the Chandrayan-1 mission, which was launched by ISRO in 2008 and discovered water from a lunar orbit surface research.

The Indian minister noted that, unlike the Chandrayan-1, the Chandrayan-2 apparatus is more complicated in design and, in addition to the orbital module, includes a landing module and a lunar rover. Accordingly, the mission of the second project, in which the integrated operation of the modules will be tested, is also more complex and important. The landing of the descent vehicle is planned in the area of the South Pole of the Moon.

If the Chandrayan-2 mission is successful, then India will become the fourth state on Earth to land on Earth’s satellite after the United States, Russia and China. Jitendra Singh believes that the success of this mission will be given by the fact that the budget of the Indian Space Research Organization is 20 times less than that of NASA.
