The source clarified that the bulk of the military equipment and service personnel are withdrawn from Saudi Arabia. The redeployment began after the head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, and the crown prince of the said kingdom, Mohammed bin Salman, spoke on the phone on June 2, 2021.

The Americans are withdrawing 8 Patriot air defense systems from Iraq, Kuwait, Jordan and Saudi Arabia. In addition, the United States will reduce the number of fighters in the region and remove the THAAD transatmospheric interception system from Saudi Arabia.

These measures were called "redistribution of resources", after the deployment in the Middle East of additional forces and means to counter the "aggressive" Iran.
