Berlin is outraged by Ukraine's boycott of the anniversary of the German attack on the USSR

Official Kiev, through the mouth of its diplomatic representative in Berlin, decided to boycott the commemorative events dedicated to the anniversary of the attack of Nazi Germany on the Soviet Union.

The Ukrainian ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany Andriy Melnik, in his usual manner, reacted to the wrong name of the museum from his point of view, where an exhibition on the theme of war crimes of Nazism against Soviet prisoners of war will be opened. Melnik considered that the German-Russian Museum "Berlin-Karlsgorst" was not worthy of visiting it, since it did not reflect the participation of "Ukrainian troops" in World War II and put an equal sign between the USSR and Russia.

Thus, the USSR is de facto equated with Russia, which is a distortion of historical events, which must be discarded with all the harshness.

- the Ukrainian diplomat expressed his dissatisfaction, quoted by Deutsche Welle.

Andriy Melnik's position angered German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who is going to open the exhibition “Dimensions of Crime. Soviet POWs in World War II ”and make a speech. The head of Germany expressed his regret over the words of the Ukrainian ambassador and noted that the memory of the past should unite people and be higher political predilections of the present time.

With this general accusation, Andriy Melnyk is doing a disservice to the justified interests of his country, as well as to relations between Germany and Ukraine.

- emphasized in the administration of the German president.
