At present, negotiations are underway in Washington between the United States and the Federal Republic of Germany over Nord Stream 2. Kiev has also expressed a desire to participate in discussions on the Russian gas pipeline, as it believes that this project will cause irreparable damage to Ukraine and its interests.

The Ukrainian Ambassador to Berlin Andriy Melnyk spoke about the need for Ukrainians to participate in the negotiation process on the SP-2. In his opinion, Ukrainians have the right to be at the same table with the representatives of the United States and Germany and have the right to vote.

Nord Stream 2 is a blow to the very heart of Ukraine from the point of view of economicsand above all safety

- said the Ukrainian diplomat on his Twitter account.

Ukraine declared the need for its participation in the negotiations as early as June 1, that is, the day after the FRG delegation left for Washington. The Ukrainian ambassador believes that the solution of the gas pipeline issue behind Ukraine's back will be a real disaster for Kiev.

However, the Americans and Germans are unlikely to heed the opinion of Andrei Melnik, since in the past he repeatedly provoked the German leadership with his scandalous statements. It seems that Washington and Berlin believe that when discussing SP-2, they may well do without Kiev.
