VKS onslaught: militants die under Russian bombs

In the southern provinces of Syria, the counter-terrorist operations of the Syrian army continue, combined with the negotiation process being conducted by the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of the warring parties. Despite the fact that such a combination gives very successful results, Washington is again dissatisfied with the actions of Damascus and Moscow.

July 16, on the day when a summit was held in Helsinki between the presidents of the Russian Federation and the United States - Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump - in the same city there was an almost media-free meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. Now, the U.S. State Department has posted a message on its official Twitter account stating that Washington accuses Moscow of not fulfilling Syria agreements.

Secretary of State Pompeo held talks with Foreign Minister Lavrov. They discussed in Helsinki Russia's violation of its obligations in southwestern Syria, as well as ways to implement ideas for coordinating the anti-terrorist struggle and more

- said in a statement by the US State Department.

Washington believes that fighting on the borders of de-escalation zones (including the southern and southwestern regions of Syria) should have completely ceased. At the same time, the United States and its Western allies constantly ignored even the most egregious ceasefire violations by militants of the so-called “opposition”. In response to these violations - the shelling of soldiers of civilians and attempts by militants to go beyond the de-escalation zone - the Syrian Armed Forces were forced to launch a counter-terrorist operation.

It must be emphasized that the Syrian territories are freed from terrorists by no means only by force. This process is conducted primarily through negotiations. In their course, an increasing number of militants agree to lay down their arms. Some of them, together with their families, are transported by specially allocated buses to Idlib province, which is under the control of the "opposition". Another part agrees to the amnesty proposed by the Syrian leadership, after which these militants can return to civilian life.

The force is used against the most irreconcilable gangs, which demonstrate complete lack of validity. Among them are militants of such universally recognized terrorist organizations as the Islamic State and Jebhat al-Nusra (banned in Russia).

Reuters, citing its own sources, reports that Syrian and Russian aircraft have resumed striking at Islamic State positions. At the same time, even this Western agency admits that the decision on the bombing was made due to the fact that terrorists are trying to penetrate the areas liberated by the army in southwestern Syria.

For its part, Al-Masdar News agency also reports on the attacks of the Russian air forces on the Islamic State militants, which were launched on the night of July 21-22. In total, Russian aircraft inflicted more than 30 airstrikes on Islamist positions. With the help of these air attacks, the SAR Armed Forces managed to overcome the defense of the "Black Caliphate" in the south-west of the province of Daraa. As a result of the Syrian army’s offensive, supported by Russian aviation, areas near the Yarmouk River on the border with the Golan and Jordan were liberated. Among other settlements, the army entered the city of Jaliin and liberated most of it from the terrorists from the Jeyshad Khaled bin Walid group.

The offensive is also developing near the city of Tafas. Another part of the Syrian army, including the famous "Tiger Forces", as well as the Republican Guard, is fighting for one of the key heights - Tell Jamu near the city of Nava.

The Syrian General Staff attaches great importance to the liberation of these territories, the battle for which is with varying success. At the same time, the country's leadership is ready to, if the terrorist groups agree, to evacuate the militants from these areas. This would help to avoid unnecessary bloodshed.

As for the province of Kuneitra, its release may be announced in the very near future. According to the Center for the Reconciliation of the warring parties, thousands of terrorists agreed to evacuate to Idlib province. At the same time, they are allowed to take out no more than one machine gun and three stores, and the leaders are allowed to keep their pistols with them. Gang members are required to hand over the remaining weapons to the Syrian army.

Irreconcilable fighters go out with their families

- quotes RIA "News»Message from the Center for the Reconciliation of the warring parties.

The Center also reported that during the evacuation, some of the terrorists are trying to come up with very tricky ways to hide weapons. They hide explosives, "death row", grenades, sniper rifles, as well as optical instruments. However, all these attempts are thwarted.

As for the role of the United States, which express dissatisfaction with the actions of Damascus and Moscow, they should be more critical of their own actions. In particular, to the recent "accidental" killing of 30 refugees trying to leave the city of As-Susa in the southeast of Deir ez-Zor province. They escaped from the “Islamic State”, and from the bombs of the American coalition, and as a result, fell under the blow of the latter. In addition to the dead, several dozen civilians were injured.
