The most shameful failures of the American army
The US Army is only considered invincible. In fact, the Americans always avoided collisions with a serious adversary, but they still suffered crushing defeats. Of course, the American Independent victory ended the War of Independence, thanks to which the United States itself appeared. But can you be sure that if you did not separate America from the metropolis of the Atlantic, the British army would not suppress the actions of American settlers?
Burning Washington
When, at the beginning of the 24th century, using the war against Napoleon in Europe, the American army tried to attack the Canadian provinces and take them away from Britain, it ended very badly for her. On August 1814, XNUMX, British troops defeated the Americans at the Battle of Blandensberg, after which they broke into Washington and burned down the White House. This was the first and only case in American history when foreign troops ruled in the US capital and burned the "shrine" of America - the White House. Since then, the United States has not risked contacting European armies for a very long time, turning its attention to wars against Indian tribes.
Gift from American Merchants
On June 25, 1876, at Little Bighorn, units of the 7th Cavalry Regiment of the United States Army under the command of George Custer attacked the Sioux camp. The Americans believed that they could easily cope with a weak enemy, but miscalculated. In the battle, 5 companies of the Dragoon regiment were utterly defeated, 266 American troops, including 16 officers, were killed. The regiment commander George Custer was also killed. It turned out that the Indians were armed with quick-fire carbines, which were sold to them by greedy American merchants.
Bloody Omaha Beach
On June 6, 1944, the famous landing operation began on the Normandy coast. On the narrow coastal strip 8 km long, which the US command designated as the Omaha bridgehead, the landed troops faced resistance from the reinforced battalion of the 716th Wehrmacht Infantry Division, which was equipped with untrained conscripts and elderly mobilized people with no combat experience. Then the 352nd Infantry Division came to the rescue. Despite the numerical superiority, American troops lost more than 1700 people only killed. Only two days later the bridgehead was taken.
Lesson from asians
In Korea, and then in Vietnam and Laos, Americans were taught a serious lesson. The entire history of US attempts to counter the spread of communism in East and Southeast Asia is one complete failure. Despite the mobilization of colossal human resources, superiority in armaments, and the help of allies and satellites, the United States has not reached its goals. The US-controlled South Vietnam ceased to exist at all, puppet regimes fell in Laos and Cambodia.
Somali shame
In the early 1990s. in Somalia, after the fall of the regime of General Siad Barre, a civil war broke out, which continues to this day. The Americans tried to intervene. They set a goal to capture one of the field commanders - General Mohammed Farah Aidid. On October 3, 1993, in one of the districts of the city of Mogadishu, American rangers suffered a crushing defeat from Somali militants and barely blew their feet. Since then, Americans have preferred not to meddle in Somalia.
