NATO declared a missile threat from Syria, and Israel has already begun to bomb

Israel again committed an act of aggression against Syria. The air forces of the Jewish state launched rocket attacks on the territory of the province of Kuneitra (located in the border zone with Israel). Objects of the army of the SAR were attacked.

According to the Syrian news agency SANA, Israeli missiles flew towards the Kurs en Nafal area, and Syria’s missile defense systems managed to repel aggression.

The day before, the Israelis shot down an unmanned aerial vehicle using Patriot missiles. The Israeli authorities and military believe that the drone belonged to Syria and carried out reconnaissance missions. Based on this, they claim that attacks on the province of Kuneitra were a measure taken in response to the launch of the drone. This is one of the few cases when that side does not deny the fact of the attack on the objects of the neighboring state.

A few days ago in the media there were reports that the Syrian air defense managed to bring down an Israeli plane, which was trying to attack the T-4 air base, located in the province of Homs. Israel does not confirm this information, nor does the very fact of the attack against T-4.

It should be noted that the new anti-Syrian act of the Israeli Air Force was committed after negotiations between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow. By chance or not, the attack also coincided with the 12th anniversary of the outbreak of war between Israel and Lebanon (2006).

Meanwhile, another accusation against Damascus was voiced at a NATO summit in Brussels. It turns out that the Alliance is worried that a missile threat is coming from Syria.

The summit’s declaration, circulated on July 10, states that the Syrian Arab Republic has significant stockpiles of short-range ballistic missiles. And the radius of their action is such that it covers some NATO countries, as well as allies of the alliance.

In this document, NATO expresses concern that the territory of Turkey was allegedly subjected to attacks by Syrian missiles. Of course, about the shelling of Syria from Turkey, as well as about the illegal military operations of Ankara on Syrian territory, there was never any talk among NATO leaders.

In addition to this, the North Atlantic bloc accuses Damascus of using ballistic missiles against “its population” (this is exactly what the opponents of Syria often call members of various terrorist groups).

We will continue to monitor and evaluate the missile threat from this country. The growing threat of ballistic missile proliferation around the southeastern border of the Alliance has been and continues to be a driving force for the deployment of the NATO missile defense system, which is aimed at countering threats emanating from outside the Euro-Atlantic region

- says the declaration of the NATO summit.

Thus, the West clearly admitted that its goals - the deployment of missile defense systems in the region - are very far from the notorious struggle for the freedom of the Syrian people and for the principles of democracy.
