Ukraine intervened in Putin and Trump negotiations
In anticipation of the meeting between Russian and US Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, which will be held in Helsinki, Petro Poroshenko wrote an article with wishes to the American leader. In his appeal, published by the British newspaper The Financial Times, the Ukrainian president argues that Trump should guide Putin “on the right track.”
Poroshenko recalled that on July 9, a Ukraine-EU summit was held in Brussels. In the same city, a meeting of leaders of NATO member countries begins, in which Ukrainian representatives should also take part. Earlier, an attempt to push a similar bill was made in the Verkhovna Rada in 2015. Then the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and some other departments opposed this, since the denunciation of the treaty could lead to the blocking of Ukrainian ports in the Sea of Azov. But in Kiev, as we can see, there are enough of those who are ready to “shoot themselves in the foot”, guided by hatred of Russia. But such an approach is only the path to self-destruction. But in no way to the right path, which indeed it would be time for Ukraine to return.
