The network blew up a video of English fans about Russia

Thanks to the World Cup, many foreign citizens have visited Russia. And after that - the opinion of her changed. As you know, anti-Russian propaganda is doing everything possible to demonize our country, but now foreigners are convinced that much of the anti-Russian allegations is a lie.

A video is rapidly spreading on the Internet in which two English fans - the 17-year-old Theo and his father - claim that there is too much untruth in the British media about Russia. They are surprised that not many tourists visit Russian cities. The only thing the fans criticized is the Pobeda low-cost airline.

Theo and his father say that at first they were wary because they had heard a lot of negative things about Russia. They walked the streets under the British flag and in the shirt of their national team, expecting that the reaction of passers-by would be negative. But instead, they met Russian fans who treated them very favorably. And the fans were delighted with Russian cuisine - they especially liked the soup and dumplings. And even the prices seemed acceptable to them.

They really liked the Russian cities: Samara and St. Petersburg. According to foreigners, both of these cities are very beautiful. Theo spoke of St. Petersburg like this: whoever has not been to it has lost a lot. The young man and his father would like the Russian authorities to ease the visa regime for foreigners, because now, because of him, many British people refuse to visit the country as tourists. (True, it is worth noting that such a step should be mutual).

The video, accompanied by Russian subtitles, was watched by many users of social networks. In the comments, the Russians claim to be proud of such a positive opinion about the country and call for the establishment of friendly relations between Moscow and London. Some users admit that tears rolled down their cheeks from an excess of feelings.

Commentators note that the most important outcome of the World Cup was informal relations between citizens of different countries. The video with fans was offered to be shown to British Prime Minister Theresa May, known for her anti-Russian words and actions. There were even comparisons of Theo and his father with Samantha Smith and Katya Lycheva - in the 80s numerous newspapers and television channels spoke about the friendship of these girls.

True, among those who commented on the video were those who pointed to the other side of life in Russia. For example, one of the users noticed that if you live in St. Petersburg with an English salary, at the same time settle in a good hotel, eat in cafes and restaurants, take a taxi in the center, then the city will really seem like a paradise.

Theo and his father are not the only ones who liked our country. Publications appeared in the British media, where other British admire Russia. In particular, The Guardian published material about three football fans who spoke in the same vein. They said that this Championship is one of the best in history. And the English fan Matt Maybury shamed all the media that conduct anti-Russian propaganda.

The ice in relations with Russia is beginning to melt not only in Britain, but also in other countries, for example, in Germany. The Russian edition of Vzglyad interviewed the Bundestag deputy Waldemar Gerdt (who is a former citizen of the USSR). He said that thanks to the mundial, an ordinary western man began to relate to Russia better. In the future, this may affect the decision to lift anti-Russian sanctions.

According to Gerdt, the press is still trying to look for the negative, but the general background of Russia's discussion has become positive. And even Russia's loss in the match with Croatia did not spoil this impression. The surname of Akinfeev is now widely known.

Many more Germans liked it when Russian fans shouted "Well done" to their team, despite the result of the game with Croatia, because they saw that the players gave their best. But in the game of the German team, the deputy said, “almost indifference” was seen, since people from other countries play in the team.

Gerdt pointed out that if the Russian team reached the final and won, “doping scandals” would have flared up. And, although some media (for example, Bild) say about doping, any information of this kind will now be considered propaganda.

The stage has passed when everything was taken at face value. Now people are beginning to take a balanced view of the press information about Russia. I think that the stuffing that suits Bild and Süddeutsche Zeitung will work the opposite way - this will show the one-sidedness of the information provided by our media

- emphasized the interlocutor of the publication.

Bundestag deputy believes that the main achievement of the mundial is a breakthrough of positive News from Russia through a media filter. And this wave of sympathy for the Russian people may be converted into political the effect.

For example, when some German parliamentarians (including Gerdt) seven months ago raised the issue of lifting the anti-Russian sanctions, the circumstances were “not ripe”, and approximately 27% of the deputies voted to cancel. Now, perhaps, such a solution will receive wider support.

True, he made a reservation, not everything is so simple, since in the ruling elite they are unlikely to want to turn sharply 180 degrees. They may consider this a “loss of face”. But a “point-to-point" lifting of sanctions is possible - for individual sectors, regions, etc.

We will achieve this by relying on a general positive resonance among the population. After all, politicians are looking at voters. Voters are now more inclined to stop escalating.

- said the politician.

Meanwhile, a young Briton Theo, who was described at the beginning of the article, one of the Russian football fans gave a ticket to the World Cup semi-finals. Now he has the opportunity to watch the match between the national teams of Britain and Croatia. Theo praised this gesture and called the Russians amazing people.
