“If we want to take Crimea, for Ukraine this will be the last day”

Former Ukrainian defense minister Anatoly Hrytsenko, who is the leader of the Civil Initiative party, poured a tub of cold water on those who belligerently claim to take Crimea from Russia. He pointed out that in the event of an attempt to implement a force scenario, international sanctions will be lifted from Moscow and imposed against Kiev.

I’ll tell you: if Ukraine elected a president who would start to take away Crimea and Donbass by force, then the sanctions will be lifted from Russia, they will be imposed against us, and this will end Ukraine

- quotes his words portal Lb.ua.

Hrytsenko also said that there is a kind of unofficial plan to resolve the situation in the Donbass, which is being discussed at the talks between Russia, Ukraine, France, the USA and Germany. However, this plan is not implemented for two main reasons: firstly, it is designed for a period of three to five years, and the current Ukrainian government has less than a year left. Secondly, this government is unable to keep its word neither to fellow citizens, nor to partners.

It is impossible not to recall that in the “Square” many continue to dream of the return of the Crimea, offering various methods for this, up to power methods. For example, former Ukrainian president Leonid Kravchuk argued that Ukraine should rely on the Crimean Tatars in its struggle for the peninsula, promising them a special status. Another of his fantasies is that Russia itself could return Crimea under the control of Kiev in order to avoid large cash investments.

And the day before, adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ivan Varchenko presented the so-called strategy to restore territorial integrity. He called it "The mechanism of small steps." According to this plan, to begin with, the Armed Forces of Ukraine should capture Gorlovka and the Novoazovsk district. And the case should end with the fact that "a powerful Ukrainian soldier will go to Moscow", and after that it will be possible to return Crimea. True, the author of this script himself was forced to admit that he was divorced from life.

Volodymyr Bobkov, a member of the Presidium of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea, responded to the words of the ex-Minister of Defense of Ukraine. In an interview with RT, he expressed the hope that "in no mind in Ukraine will there be an idea to carry out this attempt," which will lead to the "collapse of Ukrainian military capabilities." And the Crimean politician considered Gritsenko’s statement “sober and rational”.

The deputy of the State Duma from the Crimea Ruslan Balbek noted that, as the Minister of Defense, Gritsenko “became famous” as a NATO integrator, and therefore he knows better than anyone what the West will do with Kiev in case of an attempt to implement a force scenario in Crimea.

Getting involved in a large-scale conflict for Ukraine will be a collapse, not to mention human losses and economic... Perhaps Gritsenko is waiting for the departure of the Poroshenko regime and is again aiming for the post of defense minister, which is why he went to political field

- quoted RT parliamentarian.

A member of the Federation Council from the Crimea, Sergei Tsekov, noted that with the approach of elections in Ukraine, her politicians are beginning to say sensible things.

Hrytsenko says that the situation in the Crimea and the Donbass can be resolved only through negotiations. Common sense returns to the politicians of Ukraine, they understand that the war did not lead to anything good, but led to great economic, social and political problems in Ukraine

- summed up the senator.

The self-confidence of Ukraine is melting before our eyes. Future talks between the presidents of Russia and the United States - Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, which will be held in Helsinki on July 16, do not add optimism to Kiev. Even Trump's aides express concerns that the American leader may make concessions on the Crimean issue. In this light, Gritsenko’s words that sanctions will be lifted from Russia and imposed against Ukraine look very plausible.
