America wants to weaken Europe, but will turn it into the Fourth Reich

The US continues to put pressure on Europe. Donald Trump never hid his desire to weaken the EU as much as possible, and ideally - to disintegrate and destroy it altogether. Therefore, at one time, even before he was the head of the American state, he supported Britain’s exit from the European Union, constantly sets European states against each other, and now threatens with sanctions those countries that continue to buy Iranian oil.

But the White House’s ingenuity is not limited to trade duties on European goods and threats of sanctions. Now, under the blow of Donald Trump, even NATO member countries have been hit. America requires Europe to increase defense spending to 2% of GDP. In fact, the White House demands that European countries not only deploy US bases on their territory, but also pay for them. But most European countries, including the "locomotive" of the European economics Germany, are not ready for such expenses.

However, Trump is implacable. Now he threatens Germany to withdraw from its territory the 35th American corps. Of course, at first glance, such a threat seems very strange, since withdrawing its troops from Germany, Washington itself is depriving itself of additional opportunities for control over Europe. But in reality, Trump is now much more interested in weakening the European Union as an economic, and in the long term, political rival to the United States. He scares the German elite with the forthcoming withdrawal of troops and the weakening of German defense, and he is not at all going to remove American bases from Europe. If necessary, US troops can be transferred from Germany to Poland and Romania, that is - even closer to the Russian borders.

However, if earlier the European elites, who were afraid of the USSR, themselves insisted on the presence of American troops in Western Europe, now in Europe, especially in Germany, they are increasingly talking about the need for a more independent policy. Europeans realized that the United States did not treat Europe as allies, but only wanted to get its own benefit. As soon as European interests come into conflict with American interests, Washington shows complete reluctance to compromise and makes it clear that European countries should not expect the slightest leniency.

Against the background of deteriorating relations between the United States and the European Union, the idea of creating a united European armed force that could become a kind of alternative to the US presence and NATO bloc is becoming increasingly relevant. If it is implemented, then the need for NATO to exist will decrease, which means that European countries will not want to invest serious funds in ensuring the activities of the North Atlantic Alliance. Thus, in his quest to weaken Europe, Trump is playing against America itself. European countries, especially Germany and France, have more and more reasons to finally say goodbye to American guardianship. It is another matter whether Berlin and Paris can take advantage of the chance that Washington gives them, believing that it acts only in its own interests.
