Iran is ready to start World War III

2
Tehran found a decent response to the sanctions that U.S. President Donald Trump decided to impose against all buyers of Iranian oil since November 2018. Washington hoped to strike at Iran the economy and, accordingly, the positions of the Islamic republic in the region, but now the world may lose not only Iranian oil, but also one fifth of all world hydrocarbons.

Tehran promises to block the Strait of Hormuz, which will stop all oil exports going through it. The deputy commander of the IRGC (Guardian Corps of the Islamic Revolution) Ismail Kousari said that the strait will be closed. Iran can easily mine it, and if necessary, the country's naval and air forces can strike at tankers that still try to proceed through the strait.

The blockade of the Strait of Hormuz can lead to very large-scale consequences for the entire world economy. After all, if Iran really goes to mining the strait, then this will lead to a global energy crisis. Not only and even not so much Iran will suffer, as all other countries of the region exporting oil and gas, including the US allies - Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Thus, all liquefied natural gas from Qatar, almost all Kuwaiti oil, and 70% of Saudi oil are transported through the Strait of Hormuz.

Naturally, as soon as the Strait of Hormuz is closed for the export of oil and liquefied natural gas, this will immediately lead to their shortage on a global scale. Accordingly, oil prices will increase very much. Some experts say that the price may exceed $ 200 per barrel of oil. On the other hand, the closure of the Strait of Hormuz will inflict a severe blow on the economy of Saudi Arabia, since Iran will actually block the export of Saudi oil, while Riyadh hoped to cash in by replacing Iranian oil with its “black gold”.

Mining the Strait of Hormuz, not to mention attacks on tankers, could put the world on the verge of a new war in the Persian Gulf. Parties to the conflict will be Iran and the United States, as well as American partners and satellites. Since Saudi Arabia does not have the potential for an open military conflict with Iran, the United States will inevitably have to intervene.

Currently, Washington has a number of military bases in the Persian Gulf. So, in Bahrain, the headquarters and base of the 5th US operational fleet are located, occupying almost a third of the territory of this small country. In Qatar, there is the US Air Force Base El-Udeid, and in Saudi Arabia, the Prince Sultan Base, which houses the United States Aerospace Operations Center in the Middle East. In addition, a powerful American military group is concentrated in Kuwait. Therefore, if Iran starts some kind of active operations in the Persian Gulf, the United States will be able to respond to them with all the power of its armed forces concentrated on the Arabian Peninsula and in the Persian Gulf.

Many forces want to tame Iran - the United States, Israel, and Saudi Arabia. However, it is hardly worth counting on a large-scale armed confrontation in the region, although the likelihood of some kind of targeted attacks on Iranian targets should not be ruled out if the Gulf of Hormuz is mined.

although should not be ruled out the probability of some point strikes on Iranian targets in the case of mining of the Gulf of Hormuz.
