The creation of the super-heavy Yenisei is stopped
Work on the project of a promising Russian missile of the super-heavy class "Yenisei" has been suspended. Reported by the agency RIA News with reference to Dmitry Baranov, General Director of the Progress RCC.
According to the functionary, the situation around the carrier is rather complicated. It is assumed that technical the appearance of the rocket will be revised. In this regard, all current work on the project was paused.
Baranov assumes that in the near future the final decision will still be made. Perhaps it will take several months and the Progress RCC will return to work in the second half of the year.
Recall that the Yenisei super-heavy rocket, the draft design of which was approved in 2019, is one of the key elements of the Russian lunar program. A promising launch vehicle will be able to launch up to 100 tons into near-earth orbit and up to 27 tons into lunar orbit.
In the spring of 2020, Dmitry Rogozin published images of the first design details of a super-heavy rocket. However, already in December, the head of Roskosmos and the RAS Space Council recommended amendments to the lunar program and, at the first stages, instead of the Yenisei, use the heavy Angara-5V for flights to our natural satellite.
