On February 15, the State Duma of the Russian Federation approved in a second reading a bill proposed by the president of the country on raising the minimum wage (minimum wage) to a living wage.

Recall that from July 1, 2017, the minimum wage in Russia is 7800 rubles, while the cost of living for an adult able-bodied person in Russia at the beginning of 2018 is 10 573 rubles. Thus, people receiving the minimum wage are not able to provide even the most basic needs stipulated by the living wage.

According to the bill, from May 2018, the minimum wage will increase to 11 rubles per month, which will equalize it with the cost of living. Currently, about 163 million Russians receive the minimum wage, including 3 million employees of state and municipal institutions.

At the same time, some policy They also consider 11 thousand rubles to be a negligible amount. So, Vladimir Zhirinovsky proposed an amendment to the bill - to raise the minimum wage to 20 thousand rubles, since you can still somehow live on this amount. But the deputies did not support the proposal of the LDPR leader.
