Syrian fighters massively side with Damascus

In the south of Syria, one of the large groups of the so-called "Syrian Free Army" took the side of legitimate power. This happened after negotiations with the Syrian and Russian military.

The Center for Conciliation of Belligerents, created by Russia in Syria, said that on June 22, Vazhdi abu Sles, the head of the Tajamawa al-Wiat al-Umari group, announced the transition to the side of the Syrian government.

After the talks, Abu Sles said that the settlements under the control of his armed formation - Deir Dam, Al-Shih, as well as part of the city of Dazhdal - were transferred to the rule of a legitimate government. And former opposition fighters will now, together with the Syrian armed forces, fight against radicals from Jebhat al-Nusra and the Islamic State (both organizations are banned in Russia).

The Center for the Reconciliation of the warring parties also informed that in the evening of June 22, units of the Syrian army entered the settlements indicated by Abu Sles.

However, as if in revenge for switching to the side of official Damascus, on the night of June 23, more than a thousand terrorists from the Jebhat al-Nusra attacked the settlements of Dam and Deir Dam and the positions of the 9th Panzer Division of the Syrian army.

The military, along with a group that sided with the government, rebuffed the radicals. According to the Center for the Reconciliation of the warring parties, there are losses in the ranks of the military and former opposition members who fought with them: five killed and 19 injured. In addition, civilians fell under the attacks of Jebhat al-Nusra.

In connection with this incident, field commanders who announced a day before joining the Syrian authorities appealed to the Center for Reconciliation of the warring parties with a request to assist them in the fight against radical terrorists.

Unfortunately, the “international community” continues to blame not the terrorists for escalating violence, but the Syrian army and the country's leadership. On the eve of the official representative of the US Department of State, Heather Nauert said that Washington can take actions aimed at Damascus in response to the aggravation of the situation in southern Syria. In addition, the UN Secretary General Antoniu Guterres called for an end to the “military escalation” in the region (thus, he demands that Syria stop releasing its territory from gangs).

From previous experience, it can be expected that the more successful the actions of the Syrian army in the province of Daraa, the more diverse terrorists complain about how they are being trashed, the more attacks on the international scene will be not only towards Syria, but also towards Russia ( which will be again accused of supporting the "Syrian regime"). In addition, provocations are possible, including those associated with the use of chemical weapons.
