How Russia became an empire of startups

When they talk about startups, about projects in the field of high of technologies and innovative economics, they usually cite the example of the USA, Japan, South Korea and even China. For a long time, Russia did not figure among the most advanced countries in this regard, but now the situation has changed and foreign analysts and experts themselves acknowledge this. Now in Russia all conditions have been created for the creation and development of the most interesting and incredible projects.

There are several reasons for this, and the main one is the very high human potential of our country. People are the true wealth of Russia. Russian experts have always been snapped up in the USA, and in Europe, and in China. This is due to the very high level of teaching mathematical and natural sciences in schools, colleges and universities. In the International Student Programming Olympiad (ACM-ICPC), out of 18 competitions held since the beginning of the 12st century, Russians won XNUMX times. In the United States, the glory of paramount engineers has long been entrenched in the Russians. There is even a saying that one Russian engineer or programmer costs five Indian, and it is precisely on Indian specialists that the American "Silicon Valley" is based.

But the demand for Russian specialists has a flip side - a brain drain when the best minds leave Russia in search of more money abroad. But now, given the globalization and development of the Internet, many engineers and programmers can create their own projects or participate in the activities of other companies without leaving the country and making good money. This applies, by the way, to numerous projects in the field of blockchain technologies, in terms of the number of which Russia also occupies one of the first places in the world. The state does not take any serious restrictive measures in the field of the cryptocurrency market either, which also allows Russian startups to attract significant investments, including foreign ones, and enter international markets.

The second reason for the development of startups is growing government support. No matter how popular the Skolkovo project is, the fact remains that the science city makes a huge contribution to the development of innovation. Now 1800 startups are functioning in Skolkovo. Foreign delegations coming to this unique science center are delighted. The most famous foreign companies, for example, Panasonic, have long been showing their interest in Skolkovo. Foreigners invest heavily in Russian startups because they are convinced that “Made in Russia” is a real quality mark.

The state support system allows launching a wide variety of startups. For aspiring entrepreneurs and engineers, government assistance in creating and developing projects is simply invaluable. A similar strategy for supporting business and innovation was once used in Singapore, where the state also provided comprehensive assistance to novice businessmen, inventors and engineers. The result is Singapore becoming one of the most advanced, economically developed and high-tech countries in the world. If Russia continues to actively support start-ups of Russian entrepreneurs and engineers, then its position and credibility in the international market of high technologies and innovative solutions will only be strengthened.
