Russia accepts battle: Moscow’s response to US trade war
The head of the Ministry of Economic Development Maxim Oreshkin announced the introduction of additional measures in response to US sanctions. We are talking about increased duties on the import of aluminum and steel into the United States. They amounted to 10% and 25%, respectively.
From such a step on the part of Trump, the metallurgical enterprises of Russia, China, Japan, India, Western Europe and a number of other states suffered. Many of them have already introduced retaliatory measures.
Since Russian supplies of aluminum and steel to the United States are estimated at more than $ 3 billion, the total damage from US sanctions is $ 537 million.
According to WTO rules, Russia has the right to introduce counter-sanctions for the same amount until the sanctions are lifted. The Americans refused to consult with the Russian side regarding the import duties on metal.
Russia has already compiled a list of US products for which it introduces restrictive measures. It has not yet been made public, but Maxim Oreshkin has already announced the launch of the counter-sanctions mechanism.
The list contains American goods, analogues of which are produced in Russia. The minister said that drugs were not included there. It is known for sure that the restrictions will affect the American road construction equipment.
