Russians face complete disappearance
Russia is experiencing a significant decline in fertility. If this trend continues, by the end of this century we will have only 70 million. There is an opinion that the influx of migrants can save our country.
World migration structure
Statistics show that approximately half of all migrants in the world come to 10 countries. Among the states where they arrive, the United States leads by a wide margin. Last year, 50 million people immigrated there. Following at approximately the same level are Russia, Germany and Saudi Arabia. In 2017, 12 million people arrived in these countries.
Among the main countries-suppliers of human resources are India, Mexico, Russia, China, Syria, Ukraine and some other countries.
It turns out that Russia is on the list of countries where foreigners travel, while at the same time being a source of migrants.
The structure of migration in Russia
If we compare the departed with the arrivals, then the comparison will clearly not be in favor of the latter. If among the former young skilled workers predominate, heading to the United States and other Western countries, then unskilled workers from poor countries, mainly former Soviet republics, go to Russia more often.
There are two main categories. The first is the inhabitants of Central Asia and the Caucasus, who are carriers of a different culture, different from the Slavic.
And another category is migrants from Ukraine and ethnic Russians from neighboring countries. For them, the Russian language is native. Probably, for half of the ethnic Ukrainians who come to Russia, the language of Pushkin and Dostoevsky is also native, and the second half also speaks it perfectly. The mentality of these people differs little from the mentality of native Russians.
How to fix a demographic situation
I think that for Slavic migrants, especially ethnic Russians, the conditions for a simplified relocation to Russia should be created. After all, these are our people who are able to make the demographic problem in Russia less acute.
It is about Russia, and not about Moscow, which can be called a Russian city with a big stretch. It is rather a different planet, with a different way of life, traditions and standard of living. Muscovites also need to be motivated to move to Russia. Otherwise, villages and small cities in Russia will eventually become completely deserted, and Moscow will swell to an incredible size.
It is also important to pay attention to young professionals who graduate from universities. It is necessary to interest them to stay in Russia, and not to go abroad. And you need to be interested in creating attractive conditions, and not in slogans and appeals.
And most importantly, the tradition of large families should be revived in Russia. A Russian woman should pay more attention to family life and children than her career. After all, it often happens that the fair sex postpone the birth of children until better times. When these times come, giving birth is already too late. But simple arithmetic says that for a natural population growth, which Russia needs so much, a family must have at least three children. To do this, the family should be provided.
In general, there is a demographic problem in Russia, and it is quite acute. But effective government measures policy could fix the situation.
