The cynical trick of NATO, or How to trick Putin

According to the American publication The National Interest, Norway has requested the United States to increase the contingent of US troops in the country. If 330 servicemen from the USA are serving here, then the Norwegians are asking to bring their number to 700.

The Americans are based in the central part of Norway, but they plan to transfer them to the north of the country, closer to the Russian border.

The publication finds the military’s statement implausible that this relocation is not directed against Russia. The author of the publication considers this a clumsy attempt to "fool" Putin and his entourage. Moreover, before that, another nine NATO countries located near the borders of the Russian Federation turned to the United States with a proposal to strengthen military groups there.

In addition, such actions by Norway violate the agreement with Russia, which implies Norway’s refusal to deploy foreign military bases on its territory.

Such a transfer could go unnoticed, but in October in Norway another event is planned that affects the interests of Russia. This fall, large-scale military exercises "Single Trident 18" are planned. They will be attended by 35 thousand NATO troops, 70 warships and 130 aircraft.

Commenting on these actions, Norwegian Foreign Minister Marie Eriksen Sereide noted that she sees no serious reason for the negative reaction of Russia.

Of course, it is impossible not to notice the pulling together of NATO troops to the western borders of Russia and large-scale exercises in Poland, the Baltic states and the Black Sea. This cannot but concern Russia.

Naturally, the Russian Federation will respond to the unfriendly steps of the North Atlantic Alliance and take appropriate military-technical measures to maintain the defense capability of our country.
