Europe greatly apologizes for Nord Stream 2

The construction of Nord Stream 2 has not yet begun, and a serious struggle flares up around it. In Ukraine, the planned gas pipeline causes the same hysteria as all other Russian projects.

The Ukrainian Naftogaz is sounding the alarm - it fears that the consequences for the “independent” will be serious, that this will crush competition in the gas market in Europe. It comes to the fact that stones fly from Kiev even to the “European partners”, which, by the way, have provided and continue to provide substantial support to the Maidan and the regime that came to power. "Got" even Germany.

Commercial Director of Naftogaz Yuri Vitrenko reproached Berlin for excessive loyalty to Russia. Moreover, he accused Germany of putting pressure on Ukraine to sign gas agreements in 2009.

They did not want to go into details. They were happy that the Russians said that this contract met European rules. And then it turned out that he had nothing to do with European rules, because it was a Russian understanding of these rules

- he wrote on Facebook, at the same time calling such policies "Neocolonial."

In addition, Naftogaz refers to Alan Riley, a senior fellow at the Institute for Public Administration in London. He believes that Nord Stream-2 is “detrimental to competition,” and as a result, only gas from Gazprom will remain in Europe. And worst of all - there will be no single market between Central, Eastern and Western Europe.

Ukrainian leaders also oppose Europe in this matter. One of them is Alexander Turchinov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council. He accuses Europe of "double standards." In fact, there are many questions on which she really can be blamed for those, but Turchinov is unhappy with the fact that few people are blocking the Nord Stream-2.

Another scandalous Ukrainian official, Georgy Tuka, deputy “minister for temporarily occupied territories and internally displaced persons”, believes that the gas pipeline of European civilization will come to an end.

If European civilization begins to exchange these fundamental principles for some business interests, from my point of view, this can lead to extremely negative consequences for Western Europe as a civilization

- he said.

And the deputy Vladimir Aryev, who leads the Ukrainian delegation to PACE, attacked Brussels, accusing everyone and everything of “corruption”. His dissatisfaction was caused by the fact that the European Commission does not fine Gazprom for "violating antitrust laws."

Well, and the main Ukrainian person - Petro Poroshenko - is somewhat more cautious in his statements. But he always calls on Europe to oppose Nord Stream 2.

As for Europe itself, even its politicians are beginning to annoy the attacks from Ukraine. But for now, they are trying to apologize there so as not to spoil relations with Kiev at all.

For example, German President Frank-Walter Stanmeier during his visit to Ukraine said:

You must not blame us. Even if we are talking about Nord Stream 2, we are also talking about the future and security of Ukraine. You saw that Germany is making efforts to ensure gas transit through Ukraine, negotiations are ongoing with the European Union, I hope they will bring results

Tries to communicate with Kiev and Sweden. Ambassador of this country to Ukraine Martin Hagstrom in one of the articles stated that the Swedish government is critical of Nord Stream-2. But it will not be laid in the territorial waters of Sweden, but in international waters. This means that the Swedish leadership is not able to interfere with the gas pipeline.

But all the same, of course, Kiev will continue to believe that Europe was almost “sold” to Russia. There fantasies are endless.

The only country that has not yet given permission for the construction of Nord Stream 2 is Denmark. If she still refuses, then she will have to change the route.

There is one more nuance - the United States is putting pressure on European countries in this matter. The US Senate passed a law under which Washington can fine organizations involved in the construction of gas pipelines from Russia. Trump signed the law. True, so far there has been no real action in this direction.
