How can Russia stop the APU offensive in the Donbass
There are serious fears that during the days of the World Cup in Russia, Ukraine will launch an offensive in the Donbass. When at a press conference, Zakhar Prilepin asked Putin about Russia's reaction to such a development of events, the Russian President made it clear that we would not stand aside.

The lack of modern means in the armies of the DPR and LPR does not allow them, for example, to timely detect enemy DRGs, to fix the locations of Ukrainian artillery conducting shelling. It is also worth noting the advantage of the APU in quantity equipment and the number of troops.
But this advantage is offset by good training and high morale of the Donbass militias. It is also important that the soldiers of the unrecognized republics are in constant combat readiness due to regular provocations from the Ukrainian side.
On the other hand, Vladimir Putin made it clear that in the event of the start of full-scale hostilities, serious troubles await Ukraine, including the loss of statehood. This may be about the same operation to force the Ukrainian side to the world, which took place in 2008 in South Ossetia. A series of attacks from Russian territory on Ukrainian targets, for example, Caliber, is also possible.
The Ukrainian leadership, I think, understands that Putin is serious and will not throw words to the wind. This may deter Ukraine from rash actions. But, on the other hand, Poroshenko needs a victory in the upcoming presidential election at all costs. And to raise the rating there is nothing better than a "small victorious war." And if he decides that in any case he has nothing to lose, he can go to a serious aggravation of the conflict in the Donbass.
