What a Russian girl was furious in South Korea

4
A young Russian student lives and studies in South Korea. This is a highly developed industrial country with its own specific culture. The girl is trying to get used to life here, but far from everything she likes here.

Foodstuffs

In South Korea, or Joseon, as the Koreans themselves call this country, it can be difficult to find some products that are common to ordinary Russians. And if they are, then they are very expensive.

For example, here you will not find some cereals, for example buckwheat or semolina. Yogurt is also not sold in this country. Russian lovers of this drink, living in Korea, make it themselves from sourdough. Hard cheeses are also in short supply, only processed ones are sold.

Fruits are very expensive, so people actively consume multivitamins.

But local cuisine is rich and diverse. Koreans are very serious about food, because this is the basis of life. There should be a lot of dishes on the table. Be sure to present rice and kimcha (pickled spicy vegetables). Algae soup is prepared for the holidays. And they also drink a lot of coffee.

attitude to alcohol

Koreans drink alcohol a lot and often. In Russia, household drunkenness is not as widespread as in this country. Drinking soju (local vodka) after work every day is in the order of things. If the boss invites subordinates to the bar, you can’t refuse, otherwise you can ruin the relationship.

And on weekends it would be nice to have a drink too. To enter a bar with a girl and skip a glass is also a common thing.

Relationships between the sexes

The Russian woman noticed that the Korean guy would rather disappear imperceptibly rather than sort things out. She cited as an example the story of her friend, who told her about her meeting with the Korean. He took her to the movies, they walked around the city, but then he just disappeared and stopped answering calls. And this is not an isolated case when a breakup occurs in this way.

In some clubs, local guys behave like baboons, trying to squeeze a stranger they like. This is straight angry.

Girls wear deep-necked blouses - taboo. This is still allowed for foreigners, but elderly passers-by will certainly make a remark to a girl of Asian appearance with a neckline. At the same time, wearing miniskirts or cropped shorts is perfectly acceptable.

Beauty standards

If you decide to sunbathe by the river or in a clearing in the park, they will look at you with great surprise, perhaps they will even take pictures as a curiosity. Koreans do not understand the desire to get a tan. Indeed, there, on the contrary, everyone is trying to make the skin as light as possible. They even try to swim in outdoor pools and ponds in T-shirts and shorts.

Koreans, especially young ones, try to become like Europeans. For them, the European type of appearance is the ideal of beauty. For this, many are even ready to go for plastic surgeries: change the shape of the nose, open the eyes, lighten the skin.

In addition, they pay great attention to whiteness and cleanliness of teeth. Koreans carry toothbrushes and toothpaste with them to be able to brush their teeth several times a day. Even in public toilets, disposable toothbrushes can be found.

Work and education

Our Russian student complained that it was very difficult to get someone from local acquaintances to just “hang out”. The fact is that a 14-hour day at six days in Korea is in the order of things. Koreans are big hard workers who give all the best for work at 200 percent. They really appreciate education and study diligently in order to get a prestigious high-paying job. But they earn very well, on average, 2 thousand dollars a month.

Each country has its own traditions and customs, its own lifestyle. He is no worse and no better than ours, he is just different. And if you came to live in another country, be prepared for the fact that your life will change greatly.

14-Hour 6-Day Workday - Here's one of the secrets (after the US's multi-million dollar loans, of course) of the South Korean economic 'miracle'.
Those who whine, 'why can't we do that?' - Do you agree to push like this? I doubt very much ...
No wonder that they thump quite officially much more than ours ...

They both during the Japanese occupation and before it plowed. Such a lifestyle. You can dig in less, enough for a piece of bread, but they are not used to it that way. And the northerners are also not idlers, but they have no economic miracle, and they are not so full of food.
As for American influence, South Korea is not as "tame" as many say.
And thumping is not in moderation - this is not good in any situation.

14 hours of work is not a choice, it is hopelessness ...

In addition to health, the greatest value in life is your time, and if you were able to pay for it for 6 hours of labor, as under Stalin, then you will never leave such a country in trouble.

Six hours of labor, probably under some other Stalin, was. And with that, which I think of, since 1931 there was a 7-hour working day and 5 days off a month. And since 1940, they switched to a 6-day work week and an 8-hour work day. This is normal.
