In the spring of 2014, when the referendum had just passed, and Crimea became part of Russia, attempts to conduct sabotage by Ukraine had already begun.
Then the terrorists set fire to the headquarters of "Russian Unity" and the "Party of Regions" in Simferopol. On the eve of Victory Day, explosions were planned at the Eternal Flame and the monument to Lenin in the Crimean capital. In addition, in the Crimea, law enforcement officers detained SBU and military intelligence officers who arrived with unseemly goals. Representatives of international terrorist organizations, in particular, Hizb-ut-Tahrir, also came.

The purpose of the attack was to punish the leader of the Muslims of Crimea, known for his pro-Russian views and respected among the Crimean Tatars.
