Inventions of Russians who forgot to patent

1
Many inventions that changed the world and made it the way we see it today were made by the Russians. But for various reasons, these people and their talents were not appreciated at home. Therefore, even some Russians mistakenly think that their compatriots are not able to create something of their own and can only use inventions created abroad.

There are many examples that prove the opposite.

car

A talented engineer Leonty Shamshurenkov, fulfilling the state order, in 1751 created a “self-running quilt”. The device moved without extraneous traction. The inventor received 50 rubles for the work, and the invention was forgotten.

And after 18 years, the equally talented Frenchman Nicola Cunio created a similar device. The invention glorified its creator throughout the world as the author of the world's first car.

Steam engine

In 1764, Ivan Polzunov created a steam engine project, and a year later he demonstrated it in Barnaul. The show was attended by a certain Englishman, James Watt. He was so impressed with the Russian development that after a while he created his own. He patented it, and now the whole world knows James Watt as the inventor of the steam engine.

By bicycle

In 1801, the Russian serf Yefim Artamonov, who works at a factory in Nizhny Tagil, constructed an all-metal two-wheeled scooter with pedal drive, known today as a bicycle. According to the old Russian tradition, the invention was safely forgotten, and after some time a similar mechanism was created by the German, Baron Karl Draise. The German invention was enthusiastically greeted in Russia. Bicycles purchased abroad have become very popular with the Russian public.

Electric lamp

The whole world knows that the great American inventor Thomas Edison invented the incandescent lamp. Today, his invention is in almost every home on our planet.

But few heard that Edison did not come up with a light bulb, but simply improved the invention of the Russian engineer Alexander Lodygin. It was he who came up with the idea of using tungsten filament spirals for lighting.

Trolleybus

The outstanding Russian engineer Ippolit Romanov in 1899 created several models of electric cabs. After that, he went further, creating a prototype of a modern trolleybus, which he called an electric omnibus. Its capacity was 17 seats, which at that time was surprising. He developed a scheme of urban routes and obtained permission to run his cars on them. Unfortunately, he failed to find money for the realization of his idea, so the first trolleybus route was not launched in Russia.

This list goes on and on. No wonder they say that there is no prophet in their Fatherland. Usually we don’t value talented people, considering them strange eccentrics, we do not take their development seriously. But the domestic bureaucracy is not inclined to promote the manifestation of the initiative, because it can be punished.

Better Americans, Germans or French are introducing something new at home, and then we will buy from them. Well, our country is rich!
