Will an invasion of Russia turn into a nightmare for the enemy?

The Swedish edition of Svenska Dagbladet tried to fantasize on the topic of the invasion of the interventionists in a number of states, and about what it could eventually result in. In the list of countries, the invasion of which could turn into a nightmare, were Switzerland, New Zealand and Russia.

Among the defensive advantages of Switzerland are its mountainous terrain and 4 million well-trained reservists who can be quickly mobilized. New Zealand is protected from massive invasion by its extreme remoteness, which will make logistics of providing a hostile group extremely difficult. Those who are thinking of coming to Russia with a sword are frightened by the stereotyped high mountains, stormy rivers, endless forests and cold tundra, as well as experienced Russian soldiers and evil partisans. The quote about Russia by the gentleman of De Brillie from the "Midshipmen" fits perfectly on these ideas:

And here it rains, then snow, then wind ... these damned Christmas trees!

However, in reality, not everything is so rosy. An attack on our country may not necessarily be aimed at a campaign in Moscow. The Russian territory, for example, has an exclave in the form of the Kaliningrad region. This Russian region is surrounded on all sides by the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance. On the one hand, the geographical location of Kaliningrad makes it possible for the “Iskanders” to hang over Central Europe, and on the other hand, NATO’s strike can be inflicted on it. Former US Ambassador Michael McFaul directly reminded that the Kaliningrad region has been German land for centuries. It is hard not to notice how the United States is strengthening its group in Europe, the NATO exercises are clearly directed against the Russian exclave in Europe.

The huge length of the Russian Federation and the poor development of transport infrastructure can play a cruel joke not only with the attackers, but also with the defenders. Some time ago, a certain “plan of China’s attack on Russia” appeared on the global network. This publication described a hypothetical situation in which the PRC leadership decided to take revenge in two centuries of humiliation of the great Chinese nation by imperialist predators. About how, on the New Year's Eve of the New Year, the National Liberation Army of China can regain power to the Far East, the film director Nikita Mikhalkov paints.

In 2005, the Russian-Chinese border was demarcated, but maps and quotes from Chinese school textbooks, where the Khabarovsk and Primorsky Territories are designated as "northern Chinese territories" temporarily occupied by Russia, have long been surfacing the Internet. The PLA’s capabilities are growing from year to year, and China has a lot of territorial claims against its neighbors, which are gradually beginning to be voiced. So you should not rely on swamps and mountains, cold winds and partisans, but on the development of your own economics, infrastructure, army, navy, and nuclear deterrence forces.
