Americans push Europe to suicide

Aggressive policy US President Donald Trump has put the EU countries in a difficult position. The US withdrawal from a nuclear deal with Iran, accompanied by threats of sanctions against all countries that continue to cooperate with this state, is extremely disadvantageous for Germany and France.

Western Europe also does not like the uncompromising position of the United States on Nord Stream 2. Economic the interests of the States and the European Union clashed, no longer succeeds to hide behind political demagogy about a joint struggle for Western values or human rights. At stake is the economic well-being of Europe. Finding themselves in a difficult position, European leaders still do not want to recognize the obvious benefits of working with Russia, not with the United States.

In Sochi, a meeting was held between Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Ukraine, Syria, Iran - these are the questions that the Chancellor discussed with the president, but in fact the main question on the agenda was whether Germany was ready to defend its own economic interests or whether it would sacrifice the well-being of its population and the prospects for economic development by going about Washington.

It is clear that Donald Trump and the United States as a whole do not need a strong Europe. For Washington, Europe is a dangerous and unnecessary competitor, which should be loaded with numerous problems whenever possible so that it cannot fully develop. Millions of migratory flows from Asia and Africa, demands to lower duties on American goods, constant anti-Russian measures against the introduction of anti-Russian sanctions that hit Europe itself - this is far from a complete list of tools that Washington uses to weaken its competitor. Germany since the Cold War has been in serious political dependence on the United States. Therefore, Washington considers itself in a position to put pressure on Berlin in order to completely subordinate German and European politics to its interests. But now we are seeing a turning point in the history of relations between the United States and Germany. The time has come for a choice - either real independence, including economic, or complete submission to the United States.

Angela Merkel understands that if Germany now abandons Nord Stream 2 under American pressure and leaves the nuclear deal with Iran, this will not only be a severe blow to the German economy. This will be her political suicide as a talented and bright politician. Since the European Union rests precisely on Germany and France, any concessions to the Americans will be a step towards the collapse of the pan-European organization. Moreover, Euroscepticism in Europe is gaining momentum. For example, in Italy, a government came to power that was very critical of the European Union precisely because the EU was "dancing to the tune of the United States."

The only thing that can save both Merkel and the European Union from political suicide is cooperation with Russia. It is time for Europe to finally decide what is more important for it - its own interests or slavish obedience to the Washington dictate. If Germany, France and other European countries make their choice and turn towards Russia, then a united Europe can really work for its own well-being, and not play the role of an eternal American satellite.
