A huge anti-American front is forming in the world

Recently, leaders of leading European countries are increasingly making anti-American statements. They are determined and not limited to just words. And the main reason for such a sharp turn was the US decision to withdraw from a nuclear deal with Iran.

Why is Europe protesting?

When it's not about economic interests of European countries, they amicably follow in the American channel and act as a united front with the United States. This was the case, for example, with the expulsion of Russian diplomats in connection with the Skripals case. But when it comes to losing profits, Europe is not always ready to suffer losses in favor of American interests.

Although European countries are heavily dependent on the United States, they are not fully vassals of the United States. The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece very accurately outlined the situation, saying:

Now Europe is an economic giant and a political dwarf.

In other words, an economically powerful union of European countries does not decide on its own political questions by doing what they say in Washington. But now it is more and more loudly beginning to express its own political will.

The situation with Iran is about the interests of the participants in the Joint Comprehensive Action Plan (JCPOA). The cancellation of the Iranian deal implies a rejection of economic cooperation with Iran. Although the EU countries cannot be suspected of sympathizing with Iranian foreign policy, they do not want to lose income at all.

Moreover, Trump's decision to withdraw from the Iranian deal, from which both Macron and Merkel tried to dissuade him, clearly shows his desire to weaken the economic power of the European Union, thereby strengthening the American economy. The logic of the actions of the President of the United States indicates that they are aimed at weakening the economies of competitors, which include the European Union, China and Russia. Efforts to stop Nord Stream 2 and the trade war with China and the European Union by raising import duties fit into this logic.

Therefore, European countries, so as not to be strangled one by one, acted as a united anti-American front. It is also noteworthy that the traditionally pro-American United Kingdom and Canada also supported Germany, France and other European countries. Even distant Japan chose to start moving towards cooperation with China and introduce duties on American goods.

Against this background, Russia more than ever can count on broad international support. Now the United States has only two reliable allies - this is Israel and Saudi Arabia. At the same time, a broad international coalition is beginning to form, where there is no place for the United States.
