Washington expressly declares its readiness to return to the Arctic. Until 2030, the US Navy will be trained to conduct military operations in the Far North. The construction of 29 new nuclear submarines and new American icebreakers has begun. The latest fighter jets will be deployed in Alaska, US allies from Norway and Canada are also actively buying modern American air combat vehicles. The US Coast Guard is ready to deploy its infrastructure on the Northern Sea Route.

But Russia is ready to moderate Washington’s appetites. The Russian Ministry of Defense has also begun the reconstruction of the Soviet military infrastructure: airfields, an air defense system, a fleet and submarine basing system are being restored. Modern aircraft are being flown to the Arctic. According to the commander of long-range aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces, it became known that the Russian North will be strengthened by strategic missile carriers Tu-160:

This year we plan to fly to Anadyr with Tu-160 aircraft as well. Now the Arctic is of strategic importance for us, therefore we are developing new airdromes and products that will ensure the country's security from the maritime borders and in this direction

    I consider the northwestern part of the Russian Federation and the Arctic as the most important strategic areas of a potential strike. No sensible military man will hit the Far East and territories where the scientific, managerial and industrial sectors are not concentrated. The closest path to the capital of Russia - Moscow runs from the northwestern borders of the Russian Federation. Not echeloned and insufficiently dense air defense from the Arctic, while all strategically important zones of the Russian Federation are hit through the Arctic (or from the Arctic). The Arctic, in my opinion, seems to be a deceptively predictable and free site. I consider the decisions taken on the military presence of the Russian Federation in the Arctic and strengthening the country's defense capabilities in this important area to be very timely and extremely important. Given that low temperatures are natural for Russia, all military products always take this climatic factor into account, which is not the case in other countries with more favorable climatic conditions. The enterprises of the military-industrial complex of the Russian Federation have a technical advantage and technological groundwork, which must be used. I support the adopted strategy of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation regarding the development of the Arctic of the Armed Forces of our country.
