According to Russian intelligence, in Afghanistan there are up to 4 thousand IS fighters (banned in the Russian Federation). The Chinese military call about the same number of extremists, which are combined in 160 cells.
Most of the militants are concentrated in the province of Nangarhar. Here they are engaged in military training and are recruiting new supporters. To finance their activities, they are engaged in the cultivation and production of drugs. Extremists are under the auspices of the governor of this province, Gulab Mangal, who fought against the Soviet contingent in Afghanistan in the 80s.
Militants arrive from Syria and Iraq by sea to the Pakistani port of Karachi, from where they are transported to Afghanistan. It is known that since the end of 2017, about 500 Islamists, including about 20 women, have been delivered to Afghanistan by this route.
It became known that a further transfer of militants from Afghanistan to Tajikistan and Turkmenistan is planned.

After all, after the defeat of the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq, the surviving militants, including many from the Central Asian republics, strengthen their presence in Afghanistan, expanding also to the neighboring post-Soviet republics.

Everything is interconnected: “color revolutions” in post-Soviet countries, economic sanctions and other steps.
The destabilization of the situation in Central Asia is also beneficial to the United States. The capture of Afghanistan by the Americans has nothing to do with building a democratic society there, this is not part of their plans. This is a springboard for creating tension on the borders of Russia and Iran.
