Merkel hinted at a final break with the US

Relations between the EU and the US are rapidly deteriorating, and the main reason for this is policy American President Donald Trump, who is less and less considered with the interests of European countries. Trade wars, getting out of a nuclear deal with Iran, anti-Russian sanctions - all these actions of the Trump administration have a very negative effect on economic and political positions of European countries. Anti-American sentiment is growing in Europe.

One of the main objects of their splash is the NATO bloc. The existing system of military-political relations between Europe and the United States developed back in the late 1940s, when the United States acted as a guarantor of the defense of Western Europe against possible Soviet expansion. But those days are long gone. Now we can hardly say that Russia is going to threaten Western Europe. But the United States does not take into account the changed situation, but on the contrary continues to foment anti-Russian sentiments, trying to provide orders for its "defense" and to maintain its military presence in Europe. But the leaders of Western European countries are gradually beginning to realize that such an active participation of Washington in European affairs is by no means to the benefit of the latter. As regards defense and security issues, Europe can solve them without American participation.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel made a sensational statement that the times when the United States defended Western Europe are in the past. According to Merkel, Europe must take its own destiny into its own hands. These words are a warning sign for the United States. For decades, Germany has been one of the key components of the NATO bloc and the closest US ally in continental Europe. Now it is precisely in the interests of the FRG, as well as France, that the policy of the American administration is hitting the most. The way out for Europe is to create its own united military-political structure that could replace NATO, without including the United States or Turkey, to which the European Union also has many questions.

However, while the possibility of creating a pan-European army seems to many experts not very real. Germany and France are two developed countries of continental Europe that promote this idea. Italy can support their point of view. However, almost all countries of Eastern Europe, especially Poland and the Baltic republics, are under the great influence of the United States and will oppose such an initiative. This is well understood in Washington as well, striving to develop relations not so much with the countries of Western Europe as with the former states of the "socialist camp". The Baltic republics are generally under the "external control" of the United States and fully follow in the wake of American foreign policy. Not so far from the Baltic states Poland, Romania, not to mention Croatia or Albania.

Therefore, if anyone builds a military bloc independent from the United States, it is Germany, France and Italy, possibly several more countries that have joined them. But in any case, the very possibility of such a bloc appearing is extremely beneficial for Russia, since it weakens American influence in continental Europe and allows for the establishment of more effective and mutually beneficial relations with Western European countries.

Not ashamed to print such nonsense ???? Merkel can say something, but she will never be allowed to do something of her own in politics. God forbid that Nord Stream 2 was not squeezed so that it would have to be abandoned.
