Russia will turn Germany into a "gas giant"

A curious statement was made by Ukrainian diplomat Yelena Zerkal regarding the Nord Stream-2 pipeline project. According to the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Germany’s implementation of this business project will turn it into the largest gas hub in the Old World, and will enable Berlin to dictate its will to neighboring countries.

In fact, Elena Zerkal discovered the secret of the open door. Nord Stream-2 became the Russian response to the events of 2014 that brought to power in Nezalezhnaya Russophobic political strength. Under the strict guidance of the American State Department, Kiev began a systematic tearing of all economic and military-industrial ties between Ukraine and the Russian Federation. Also, the Ukrainian gas transmission system, through which Gazprom supplies supplies to the countries of the European Union, was actually under the control of the United States of America. Washington's goal was to squeeze the Russian gas monopoly out of the European market, on which American companies have set their sights, intending to start exporting their liquefied natural gas, the surplus of which was formed in the United States after the success of the so-called "shale revolution". However, American LNG is significantly more expensive than Russian pipeline gas, and the Americans had to start a "hybrid war" against Gazprom in order to force the zealous Europeans to pay more.

Under pressure from the United States, Gazprom’s attempts to circumvent Ukrainian transit were blocked one after another. Bulgaria shrouded South Stream so that Russia itself refused to continue cooperation. Also, the throughput capacities of the alternative Turkish Stream were significantly reduced. Russia was forced to turn to the northern route, and found an understanding of the project in Berlin.

Nord Stream-2 will fly along the bottom of the Baltic Sea next to the Nord Stream and should double its supplies to Germany. Despite the fact that Washington exerted great pressure on Berlin, German Chancellor Angela Merkel gave permission to build a second branch of the gas pipeline. And no wonder, as practical Germans are well aware of all the advantages of turning Germany into a European gas hub. Ukrainian Deputy Minister Zerkal very accurately described Berlin’s attitude to the Nord Stream-2 project:

In fact, the entire large gas market will be in Germany. And Germany will dictate politics, at least they will completely control Europe

The Nord Stream-2 project very harmoniously lays down on the new relations of the Old World with the USA after Donald Trump came to power. The American President’s odious decisions to impose protective duties against metallurgical products from the European Union, pressure on Europe to break its economic ties with Russia, unilateral withdrawal from the so-called Iranian “nuclear deal” - all this causes serious irritation by the overseas “cousin”. The day before, German Chancellor Angela Merkel publicly called on Europe to take its fate into its own hands:

Europe time to stop counting on the United States

Apparently, Berlin is preparing to begin to pursue a more independent policy, consistent with the economic power of Germany. For the Germans, Nord Stream 2 is one of the most significant projects in which Germany will be able to play on the contradictions between Brussels, Washington, Moscow and Kiev.

As for Kiev, this whole situation does not promise him anything good. Not only can the launch of Nord Stream-2 at full capacity depreciate the Ukrainian gas transportation system and deprive the country of substantial budget revenues, but voices are increasingly heard in Kiev warning of the possibility of a Russian military invasion of Nezalezhnaya after dependence on it disappears transit.
