The United States will put up a whole fleet against the Russian Zircon

Remarkable news came from the United States. On May 4, 2018, at the naval base in the city of Norfolk, it was announced the reconstruction of the U.S. Second Fleet. The official statement said that the United States Second Fleet should ensure security in the Atlantic Ocean and on the East Coast of the United States themselves, through the operational management of both warships and aircraft, and ground forces.

The United States Navy consists of operational fleets with their own area of responsibility. For example, the Fifth Fleet took part in the Gulf Wars. The Second Fleet participated in the intervention in Grenada, during the Caribbean crisis, the ships of the Second Fleet carried out the blockade of Cuba. The main purpose of this unit of the U.S. Navy was to counter the Soviet fleet in the northern Atlantic Ocean. However, with the collapse of the USSR, the threat to US national security decreased significantly, and in 2011, in the era of the so-called “reset” of relations with Russia, launched by Barack Obama, Washington decided to disband its Second Fleet. Over one hundred warships and submarines that were part of this formation were distributed among other US fleets.

The formulations of Admiral John Richardson, with which he announced his intention to revive the Second Fleet, are evident:

Our new national military strategy makes it clear that we are back in the era of great power competition, as the number of challenges in our environment grows, it becomes more complex. Therefore, we are setting up the Second Fleet today to respond to these challenges, especially in the North Atlantic.

With what superpower the United States of America is forced to start competing again, the commander in chief of the US Navy does not directly speak, but the Russian Federation is clearly meant. Apparently, Washington is forced to respond to an increase in the level of combat capability of the Russian Navy, and above all, its underwater part. We wrote about the growing concern of the North Atlantic Alliance with the capabilities of the Russian Northern and Black Sea Fleets earlier.

Russian submariners are actively conducting exercises using all types of weapons, Russian submarines are present in the Arctic and in the Atlantic Ocean. The Russian Navy is replenished with new nuclear submarines, work is underway on the creation of the fifth-generation submarine Husky under hypersonic Zircon missiles. The Russian military-industrial complex is developing submarine unmanned aerial vehicles with a nuclear engine that can travel at tremendous speed at kilometer depths, reaching the distance of a missile strike against a potential enemy, including using nuclear warheads.

The structure and composition of the revived Second Fleet by the commander of the United States Navy did not disclose, but it should be strong enough to stop a new threat to the United States of America.

The Americans decided that we do not have enough missiles on all their ships ?! But rockets cost significantly less than building ships. The Americans will have to give up.
