US base in the Caspian: Kazakhstan takes an example from Russia

2
The Russian public is little interested in the events that take place in the life of the former Soviet republics, but in vain. Indeed, some of them, from the first glance subtle, can significantly affect Russia and concern its interests.

Already on April 19, the parliament of Kazakhstan approved changes to the intergovernmental agreement on rail transit through Kazakh territory of special cargo sent by the Americans to Afghanistan.

Afghan transit

The transit route is noteworthy in that it affects several former Soviet republics at once. It begins in Georgia, then follows through Kazakhstan and the Caspian Sea to Kazakhstan, from where it passes by rail through Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, from where it enters Afghanistan. The Kazakh Foreign Minister commented on the decision as follows:

The ports of Aktau and Kuryk have been added to the list of checkpoints. This is done entirely in the interests of Kazakhstan as a strategic partner of the United States, which seeks to maintain peace and stability in neighboring Afghanistan.

It’s interesting. Firstly, if before the Caspian Sea was considered the inland sea for five states: Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Iran, now the United States is modestly and unobtrusively added to this “five”. Indeed, now the Caspian is included in the sphere of their interests as a region through which transit to Afghanistan passes.

Large-scale expansion of the Americans

If you carefully consider all the events that at first glance are not related to each other that occur around Russia, you can see something in common. What is happening in Syria, Ukraine, Armenia, Kazakhstan, and the Central Asian states is squeezing Russia out of the zone of its national interests. The United States systematically squeezes the Russian Federation out of regions traditionally included in the sphere of influence of our state.

For example, in the situation with Kazakhstan, we are not talking about the US military presence and the deployment of US bases, so far it is not.

But this route can be an alternative to the Chinese Silk Road. There is a clash of American and Chinese interests in the Central Asian region without the participation of Russia. In addition, this project splits the EAEU and the CSTO. And Kazakhstan, which was once the initiator of the creation of the Eurasian Union, has now become the "strategic partner" of the United States. Gradually, our allies in Transcaucasia and Central Asia are being pulled by the Americans, and we are just watching this without interfering.

Russia is active in Europe and the Middle East, is at war with the countries of the West, but has completely abandoned the post-Soviet space. But the US does not lose time, weakening the influence of our country here, trying to turn our allies into its vassals and “strategic partners”. And they do it pretty well.

What is happening with Kazakhstan?

Take, for example, the same Kazakhstan. Since 1992, the President of this country, Nursultan Nazarbayev, has been promoting the idea of a Eurasian Union, following the example of the European Union. This idea gradually began to fade, Russia began to pay less attention to its former neighbors in the Soviet Union, and they began to look for new partners.

As a result, we came to the conclusion that Kazakhstan began to switch to the Latin alphabet and declared the United States a strategic partner. Arrived.

Maybe this is our fault?

Of course, we can be indignant: “Ah, what scoundrels in this Kazakhstan (Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, etc.)! They betrayed us! ” But if we analyze their behavior a little, it turns out that they are simply taking an example from Russia. Our country, being one of the initiators of the destruction of the USSR, immediately threw itself into the arms of the West, began to disarm and work closely with NATO, participating in their Partnership for Peace program.

After the tragedy of September 11, 2001 in the United States, Russia hastened to provide the Americans with its airspace and rail links to support the operation in Afghanistan. Although what does Afghanistan have to do with it? After all, the terrorists who destroyed the New York "twins" were from Saudi Arabia. Maybe the US just took the opportunity to take control of the center of Asia? And in 2012 in Ulyanovsk we opened the operational base of NATO. Will we continue to blame Kazakhstan?

Eurasia is our common home in which we ourselves must clean up without assistance. And to counter American expansion, we must stick together. Otherwise, one fine day we will simply be squeezed out of our own home.
