"God forbid Russia will twitch"

One of the former commanders of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Volodymyr Shilov in an interview with the Ukrainian site “Observer” expressed an opinion that could be soul-deep to anyone who dreams of cleansing the Donbass and returning Crimea. He said that the Ukrainian army is in extremely poor condition.

As for the statements of some Kiev politicians that the army of Ukraine is strong, the ex-commander considers them to be an invention. According to him, one cannot say that this army can become one of the ten strongest in Europe, and recently the situation has completely "deteriorated". Shilov accused the authorities of "ditching" the volunteer movements, and the contract servicemen at present simply do not want to deal with the Armed Forces. And if those who already serve under the contract had the opportunity to terminate it, then half would use this opportunity to go to civilian life.

Everything is really bad. God forbid, Russia will twitch

- the former commander expressed concern.

It should be noted that the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko often made bravura statements about a strong army. One of the last states that it is the strongest in Europe among states that are not members of NATO. Former Prime Minister, one of the former leaders of the "Euromaidan" Arseniy Yatsenyuk did say that the Ukrainian army ... guards the borders of NATO.

Meanwhile, more and more voices are heard from those who believe that in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine everything is not at all simple. One of the main problems that are being talked about more and more often is the growing number of suicides among military personnel. The other day, the chief military prosecutor of Ukraine Anatoly Matios cited statistics for the Ukrainian army that were gloomy: of the approximately 326 thousand military personnel who took part in the punitive "anti-terrorist" operation in the Donbas, 554 committed suicide.

Since the beginning of the ATO, almost 326 thousand people have received the status of a participant in hostilities, 8489 of them were injured and injured, 3784 soldiers were killed. At least 554 people committed suicide

- he said on his page on the social network Facebook.

Matios considers the main reason for this situation to be the lack of measures that would contribute to the rehabilitation and adaptation of those who took part in the ATO.

Previously, he spoke on the same topic. In February, the number of suicides was 518. Of these, only from the beginning of 2018, he said then, there were 16 cases of suicide. As you can see, many more similar incidents have occurred since then. True, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine usually secretes such information, but it leaks more and more. For example, last year, Ukrainian Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov mentioned five hundred suicides among ATO participants.

Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak, in turn, is also forced to admit non-combat losses, attributing them to violation of safety rules, alcohol abuse and disease.

On the air of Radio Sputnik, Ukrainian politician Vadim Kolesnichenko, head of the International Council of Russian Compatriots, commenting on the statement of the former commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Shilov, said that two aspects must be kept in mind. One of them is propaganda. The state machine claims that the Ukrainian army is almost the best in the world. There is a second aspect - an internal understanding of what is happening. Many who served in the Armed Forces see demoralization, corruption, theft, instability, and lack of discipline.

Kolesnichenko conditionally divided the Ukrainian army into two parts:

About 300 thousand people in Ukraine were baptized with blood, they were tied with the blood of Donbass, and they have nowhere to go, they will fight. This is the first part. And the second part is special units that are trained by representatives of the United States and the NATO bloc and are well equipped

The politician predicted an aggravation of the situation in the Donbass over the next one and a half to two months. However, I would like to hope that the information coming to the media about the real situation in the Ukrainian army will at least cool the hot heads of those who are ready for crazy steps. And even NATO will not be able to help.
