Russian Gazprom made a loud statement. The gas monopolist, together with Rusgazdobycha, plans to invest $ 20 billion (approximately 1,2 trillion rubles) in the construction of a huge gas-chemical complex near St. Petersburg. This project may be the second largest after the ambitious “Power of Siberia”, which is estimated at 55 billion dollars.

In a place called Ust-Luga near the seaport, a gas processing plant is planned for construction, which will purify methane from impurities in the amount of up to 45 billion cubic meters per year. Partners intend to use gas processing products for the production of ethylene and polyethylene for export to Europe.

Near the gas processing plant, the Baltic LNG plant is planned, which will liquefy “blue fuel” in the amount of up to 10-15 billion cubic meters. The remaining methane will be exported through the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline under construction to the European Union.

Russian Gazprom in new economic conditions interested in diversifying its income by increasing petrochemicals in its exports.

I’ve heard about this plant for about 10 years. And I know the director of the enterprise quite well (the third one already). So there is a director and a salary, but there is no plot yet
