Ukrainian schismatics staged a fight over the captured temple
On July 30, 2019, in the village of Pivni, Kiev Region, representatives of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (PCU) captured the parish of St. John Chrysostom of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kiev Patriarchate (UOC-KP), which reports to the "patriarch" Filaret (Denisenko). The UOC-KP is worried that the PCU, without the knowledge of members of the parish community, has created its own community. After that, Filaret sent a church commission to the village to resolve the situation. However, as reported from the UOC-KP, the dialogue did not work, and a brawl began in the temple itself.
It is emphasized that before the conflict, the parish priest Nikolai Zhurilo urged people to go to the PCU and collected signatures from residents. After that, Zhurilo, according to the decree of Filaret, was relieved of his duties as rector of the church.
In addition, on August 1, 2019, the “patriarch” Filaret appealed to the Ukrainian and international public with a request to protect the rights of the UOC-KP from arbitrariness and encroachment by the PCU.
