New Russian radar will land a plane with navigation failure

Landing of aircraft at Russian airports will become more accurate and safer, thanks to the latest radar from Rostec. According to information published on the official website of the state corporation, serial production of devices will begin in 2020.

The advantage of the new system is that it will be able to control the landing approach of any type of aircraft, which will allow for efficient air traffic control in the near field. Detection of an object occurs at a distance of up to 350 km, after which the air traffic controllers have the opportunity to escort the aircraft, relying on monitoring data on the flight path relative to moving meteorological events and stationary objects.

The brainchild of Rostec will be able to provide an accurate landing for small aircraft that are not equipped with complex navigation systems. In addition, the new radar will allow to escort and land an aircraft in which one or more onboard navigation systems are out of order.

It is worth noting that the innovative device is equipped with active phased arrays instead of a rotating locator, like most analogues. This makes the development of a state corporation more accurate and reliable.

In addition, the cost of the new radar, according to statements by representatives of Rostec, will be 25% cheaper than domestic and as much as 75% lower than their foreign counterparts. Chelyabinsk Radio Plant "Flight" will be engaged in the production of equipment.
