Competitor Tesla: in Russia showed the electric truck of the future
Apparently, Tesla intends to seriously compete for the business segment in the electric car industry. Not so long ago, information appeared on the network that the Semi electric drive unmanned tractor, the development of which has been under way since 2017, has begun to undergo field trials.
However, as they say: "a holy place does not happen empty." The offspring of Ilon Mask already have competitors. Together with a self-propelled tractor Edge from Volvo Trucks is ready to join the fight and the domestic electric "Trucks" from the design studio Artemy Lebedev.
At the moment, there is only a concept that demonstrates what the Russian “truck of the future" will look like. According to the developers, the vehicle, like the aforementioned competitors, will receive computer vision and autopilot.
An unusual role is played by the unusual design of the tractor cab. As conceived by the designers, special screens will improve aerodynamics, which in turn will reduce energy consumption and increase the range. In addition, the latter, dividing the oncoming flows into two parts, should facilitate the washing off of dirt from containers during movement. True, the developer did not go into details and explain the details of this "wonderful" process.
As for other technical characteristics, at the moment it is only known that the front axle will receive additional load, making the unmanned “Lorry” more stable, and the battery capacity will last for 200 km. For comparison, Tesla Semi can travel up to 800 km on a single charge.
