In Russia, the creation of an engine for a supersonic airliner has begun.
At the beginning of 2019, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Denis Manturov, announced that research was being conducted in Russia to create a supersonic passenger liner. And so, on July 19, as part of an interview with the agency RIA NewsDirector General of TsIAM them. P.I. Baranova Mikhail Gordin, spoke about the beginning of the development of a unique power plant for the aforementioned aircraft, which has no analogues in the world.
The functionary noted the importance of the phased development of the project. He believes that due to the lack of a gas generator, on the basis of which it would be possible to build a new unit, it is necessary to use a demonstrator with an adapted gas generator and, during the tests, lay the confirmed characteristics in a promising aircraft. In addition, to make a prototype is expensive and risky, because the problem of sonic boom remains unresolved. But even if you do not take into account the latter, and right now start laying the engine, the aircraft itself will be ready in 15 years, Gordin emphasized.
Recall that for the first time the President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin raised the topic of creating a supersonic passenger aircraft after observing the tests of the modernized TU-160. In turn, the head of the UAC Yuri Slyusar then told the head of state that the company already has a project for such an aircraft.
Based on the calculations of the Tupolev battery, announced by the director of the bureau Valery Solozobov in September 2018, the promising aircraft will be able to rise to a height of 11 km and reach a speed of up to 1900 km / h. At the same time, according to preliminary data, research work can cost 42 billion rubles, and development work - 57 billion.
